Just found the new thread and thought I would check in. I'm going to help dd clean up the downstairs "toy" closet and then we'll do baths and bed, then I shall be back to try and catch up. Oh I have to mention how wonderful those whoopie pies and lobster rolls a few pages back looked. YUM!!

because: he honored the military plenty at the balls he already went to, he had so many balls to go to and this wan't "listed" as an "official" ball, and let's not forget that the title of the thread wasn't to their liking so anybody who was posting there defending the title of the thread had violated some imagined trust.

Oh, well, I guess my reasoning was wrong: I figured that he didn't give a rat's behind about the military that he just took command of and has never served in. :rolleyes1

While not wanting to beat a dead horse, I feel that I had to post this. Remember how all the Libs denied that the ball honoring the Medal of Honor recipients ever took place? Remember how some of us were attacked by the rabid OS? Well the American Legion posted a story on their site about the ball with a good video of some of the attendees.

I wanted all of my Con friends to get a chance to read about some of their stories and see some of the men that were honored at the ball, even if their Commander in Chief felt like they weren't worthy to be graced by his presence.

I am thankful for those brave men and their service to our country, even if others seem to find them unimportant.

You should post that on the board. I would like to see the frenzy of defense that would cause.:lmao: ;)

Hi all! Loving the new thread title. :thumbsup2

there's no place like home.

Is that a display in a museum? Very neat looking. I know the National Museum of American History in D.C. used to display them in just a clear glass case, but not sure how they're displayed now that the big renovation took place.

:crazy2:

The thought of RnRC 8 times is really making me queasy. Then again, maybe it is from the frosty and fries! :lmao:

We Glenn fans do need to stick together. After all, Duct tape is cheaper when bought in bulk!

Checkin' in!

Just wanted to post part of the reason I was off the DIS for awhile:

She's 7 months old, about 35 lbs, and looks to be a Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix. She was rescued from a high kill shelter in South Carolina (with only 2 days left :scared1: ) and brought to PA. She's settling in quite nicely.
She's adorable! What a beautiful dog. And God bless you and yours for saving a shelter dog.

It is good to have a change in the GOP.
::yes:: And welcome to the thread! Ursula is one of my fave Disney villains.

I have always admired Michael Steele when he appeared on Fox. He will do a great job. Maybe now the Republican party will have a direction with good leadership.

Is anyone doing anything in regards to Palin and 2012?
I signed up for her PAC's newsletter. I'll donate some moohlah later this year, I hope.

I guess that the other side didn't take kindly to me calling out that they were all :thumbsup2 over a guy that they know nothing about. So far, they've pulled a piece off of politico that I can't currently back-up by any quick google searches but they are taking it as the gospel truth. (Actually, reading some of the intro, I thought that I was reading Obama’s biography; except they replaced Obama’s name with Michael Steel’s) then it gets into hard core social conservative issues that liberals hate...

Michael Steele's a good guy. We know it and they know it. It isn't as if "they" would have had anything nice to say about anyone else elected to head the RNC. With Steele, they just have the super convenient race thing to go to, so that's, of course, right where they go. Really, what else would one expect?:confused3

Black conservatives take a real beating from the left. I think they are some of the most ideologically honest people in the world. They believe what they believe, even when they are routinely crucified, called the most awful, racist names, etc. They stand firm in their beliefs about what's right for this free nation, when it would be soooo much easier to join the leftist pack. I admire men like Michael Steele…and Thomas Sowell, and Shelby Steele, and Clarence Thomas, and JC Watts, and Walter Williams, and Ward Connerly.
I think what happens in this case is a lot of liberals, particularly those actually in politics, see both female conservatives and Black conservatives as the ultimate threat. Why? It helps show that just because you're a woman, or just because you are Black or any other race that isn't White, doesn't mean you automatically should be a liberal. Dems make their money and win elections mostly based on the idea that they represent the little guy or gal, the underrepresented. If they can continue to perpetuate the lies that conservatives hate anyone who's not a White male, then they can continue to count on large majorities in those demos voting for them. The Republicans hold a lot of blame in this too, because they let the Dems set the tone, set the message, instead of fighting back and showing how the conservative POV fits with ideals and beliefs of many women and minorities, and how it can benefit them.

I find all of the hoopla from some Obama supporters about Steele nothing short of amusing. They continue to show that they know little about our party or our philosopy. Just like when they ran around saying "No one ever heard of Palin before McCain chose her as his running mate!" Um, just because liberals didn't know her, didn't mean conservatives and/or Republicans did not. As I said months ago, we tend to take notice of our own and know a wee bit more about up and comers than the OS do, just like, generally speaking, they know more about their side's rising stars than we do.

Steele was talking about changing directions in the party, changing tones, etc. and going back to conservatism at least 2 and a half or so years ago, before Obama even started running for President on his "Hopey Changemas" message. And out of those running for Chairman, Steele was the one with the most name recognition, ties to media, etc. He was the best choice, hands down. But no, the RNC elected him because we're really just copying Obama! Oh please! :rotfl2:

While I do not like Biden (at all...), I am thankful that he and Jill went to the ball. Good move on his part, very respectful and appreciated. Cannot say the same for the Obamas.

dunno...i just needed a picture of red sparkly shoes and that one popped up.

You know, all of the times that I was alluded to being - or flat out called - a racist during the election (for the sole reason of not voting for Obama) I had to remember that - any black not voting for Obama was crucified. They had it rough.

One of my good friends, her husband got into an actual fight with the neighbor. The reason? My friend and her husband are black, the neighbor was black, my friend and her husband weren’t voting for Obama. The neighbor started something with them over it.

On various message boards and blogs on the internet – I saw any known black person voting for McCain just trashed. It was so bad.

:wave2: :flower3: Just checking in.

On the subject of black conservatives, I went to Pastor Ken Hutcherson's church in Seattle just before the election. Whoa baby. He said he was getting death threats, being videotaped, etc. just for being an influential black conservative. I felt really bad for him in that respect, but proud for him that he's so strong in his beliefs that he could weather the storm.

Thanks for posting this. We all need to be reminded of the importance and great sacrifices of our military. So sad that some have no concept of what their, and their families', sacrifices entail. We have friends whose son (only child) is going to Afghanistan later this year (he is a Ranger Captain). They are petrified that military equipment for the troops will be the first budgetary cut. They really don't think the msm will focus on lives lost like they did with Bush, and while the Pork Bill is busy resodding the Main Mall, boys will we dying from budget cuts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

While it would be nice to force them to admit that they were wrong; if someone did post this I'm sure the thread would wind up *poofed* and whoever posted it would get banned since we already had one thread in regards to this ball *poofed*. Better to just let it go. Besides, enough of the lib's lurk on here - they know. And we know that they know. And we know that they were wrong about this.

I knew who Palin was months before the VP announcement. ;)

Biden amuses me. But I doubt he'll get as much flack as Quayle did.

With all the banning and "poofing" going on, let's take this as our mantra for this and any other political/Obama issues that come up out on the CB: We know we're right. We know they know we're right. That's why they get so angry. No need to remind them we know they know we're right. They already know that.
;)

I had never heard anything about Obama prior to the primaries, so if the Dems not hearing of Palin disqualified her, then BO should resign because he was a virtual nobody to me before this election.

But of course they wouldn't think of that. They can't see that just because they hadn't heard of her doesn't mean the Republicans in America hadn't heard of her.

Biden's a placeholder in case Obama gets a second term. He won't be put up again as VP because they need someone who can run in 2016 should Obama get 2 terms. Who do you think it'll be in 2012?

what kind of liberal maniac does something like that? just 'cause the guy was black AND conservative?

if only stupid could hurt, maybe those who are would try for smarter.

I think bho will try to clone himself so he can be his own vp. :lmao:
Seriously, though, I think he should ask Howard Dean. :rolleyes1

Please don't write something like that when I'm taking a drink.

hillary v.p. 2012. hillary runs for pres. again 2016. that is unless bho gets his dream to eliminate term limits and becomes empress...I MEAN...emperor.

I don't know, but he was pretty emphatic about it. He talked about it for around 10-15 minutes at the start of the service. Personally, I wouldn't want to mess with him, he was a linebacker in the NFL. He's really conservative and speaks out against gay rights and other stuff, so I can see him being a target. He also was very open about who he was voting for, so there wasn't any question that he wasn't voting for Obama. He's a pretty intense guy on the surface, but when you get to talk to him in person, he's like a big teddy bear.
