too funny Tink! I should have said I want to use my left over taco meat to make something new for dinner tonight. I ended up making a taco casserole and it was pretty good too.

Blessed Mom those pictures are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them. I hope you have better weather tomorrow.

Soarin - sorry about your dinner. I am still jealous of everything you are getting to do! Enjoy working tomorrow.

And JB Jacob is just so cute!

Yeah, sometimes I can't help myself. :lmao:
That sounds pretty good. I have no idea what we're having for dinner.

JB, Jacob keeps getting cuter and cuter.

Wonder, the bird... oh my. :rotfl2:

I'm back from watching The Bachelor. It's kinda like a train wreck... don't want to watch, but just can't help yourself. For most of the people on the show, it's like the ultimate example of what NOT to do when dating someone. :sad2: I can blame the fact that I put myself through the misery of watching this on a grad school buddy of mine. It's all her fault! :lmao:

Yes, Blestmom, those are great pics!

I'm about to turn in, but may I just say...

Yay for me reaching 3,000 posts! :cheer2: pixiedust: :cool1: :hyper: :cheer2:

And it only took me 4 years to do it!!! :rotfl2:

congrats on the 3000 posts!

Did anyone have kids that took college classes in their Jr year at high school? DS is testing tomorrow to get into 2 (English and History). I am a little concerned about him getting in over his head. He does well but is pretty busy and I would think these would be a lot more work than a high school class. Any words of wisdom? Thanks!

No children of my own here but I have lots of friends whose children did this. I think it would be the same 'over his head' that he would get as a freshman at first but, in the end, he'll do well. Then, he'll be that much further ahead in college. Everyone I have known [whether they're good students or not] did well and were happy that they did it.

If he can handle it more power to him!:thumbsup2
I wish this had been an option for me when I was in hs.

I'm off to bed. G'night cons!! :grouphug:

Hey! Wait a minute! Where are you going? What's up with that TR of yours? I just (finally) did another update for mine. I even talked about you on my EPCOT day... :rolleyes1

...ok, so I haven't been over here tonight b/c of the TR.

We've got

Corruption in the Obama Administration
More corruption in the Obama Administration.
Even more corruption in the Obama Administration.

... am I caught up yet?

By the way, where's all this change he kept talking about? :confused3

In Texas they have what is called the TAMS program (Texas Academy of Math and Science). Students in their sophomore year of high school can apply. The candidates must have aced SAT's scores, 4.0 GPA's and excellent interviewing skills. After rigorous interviews; they select the top 300 from the state and send them to college.

The University of North Texas is where they are sent – and housed as wards of the state. They complete their junior year of highschool and freshman year of college at the same time and then their senior year of highschool and sophomore year of college at the same time. When they graduate from highschool at 18, they are entering their junior year of college.

A good friend of mine in jr. high and high school did this program. I haven’t spoken to her in several years now but she completed the program at UNT and then went off to Georgetown University in D.C. I knew that she wanted to go into politics; she’d been going to D.C. each summer while still at UNT for political internships. The last I heard about her she’d just completed her law degree from Georgetown University.

I took dual credit classes with the local community college my senior year of highschool, but not my junior year.

Awww... JB, he's a cutie! :goodvibes

Welcome back blestmom! Glad you're back - sorry you had to leave WDW. Beautiful pictures!

I really need to go to bed now – looks as if the rest of you are already there!

oh...thought I'd post a new picture of Jacob :) It has been awhile. He's nearly 8lbs now. He'll be 4 months old next week. I can hardly believe it. (though he should only be 1 1/2 months old) He's smiling and cooing now, can hold himself up really well on his tummy. He's tried to roll over but can't quite get there (thank goodness!)

I have these two teddy bears that DH gave me while we were dating. Both are Air Force teddy bears in uniform. One in desert, the other in his SF uniform. DH has a picture of DSS as a baby in the desert uniform, so we followed it up with one of Jacob. :) Sorry-had to blur out the name on the uniform.

Please give your little cutie lots of hugs and kisses from all of his conservative aunts and uncles  :grouphug:

Hi! Glad I found the new thread.:thumbsup2

We're still at Disney, and having a great time. We've been going at a pretty fast pace for the last 7 days, and it 's raining today, so we decided to take a day off, and gear up for the next 7. My kids are going bonkers sitting in the hotel room.

Here are some of my favorite pictures...can't wait to work on a trip report when I get home.

Hey, you told me your pictures weren't very good! These are absolutely gorgeous...but where are all the people? Did I take them back home with me, along with the warm weather?

Can't wait to read your TR...can't wait to read mine either...would you mind doing mine too while you're at it? Glad you're having a great time....hope the volcano calms down long enough for you to get back home....

Hey guys! Several of you have expressed some interest in helping with Transparent's organization. She told me today that they have tons of supplies to send over, but have zero funds to pay for postage. If some of you would like to help by donating $$ to them send Transparent a PM or let me know and I'll send you the address to mail them a check. Please do NOT send me anything other than items for quilts.

I'm just so excited to be able to find an organization to help. I've been wanting to do this for a very long time and for one reason or another nothing has worked out.

We still have no word yet on DH's AGR slot, but he is up for another job at the hospital where Jacob spent his first 5 weeks. They have their own fully fledged police dept so he wouldn't be just a rent-a-cop security guard. He doesn't want any job where he can't be armed :) :)

After all this last week or two of just feeling completely crappy I'm going in to the doctor tomorrow for a full physical and blood work. Given my family history we want to rule out diabetes and thyroid issues. I've already got high BP and I've been battling anemia so perhaps we can figure out what I need to do to feel normal again.

Hi guys, I know I haven't been online much lately but I hope you all are up for this challenge. I'm challenging all my conservative friends (and any lib lurkers ;) ) to make a donation to Operation First Response. I was just reading elsewhere where they are in dire need of donations.

http://www.operationfirstresponse.org/index.htm

This is the charity that Transparant helps run. Donations help wounded soldiers and their families. Transparant doesn't know I'm putting this challenge out there so I hope she doesn't mind. :goodvibes

My challenge is for everyone to make a pledge today. Any amount would certainly help. If everyone on this thread just gave even $10, it would surely add up quick. All you would have to do is skip starbucks tomorrow or bring a sack lunch to work. That's not much of a sacrifice compared to the sacrifice these men and women gave.

Also, if you don't want to give cash, they accept frequent flyer miles as donations too.

And please, to all the lib lurkers, now is not the time to argue about the war, I just want to see help given to our service men and women.

You can also get to them through facebook.

[/soapbox]

As I mentioned yesterday, They are in dire need of postage funds to mail over the supplies they already have on hand. She (transparent) has been swamped with work lately, and I know she would really appreciate the help.

congrats on the 3000 posts!

I took 1 college class my second semester senior year in high school concurrently and it was easier than my high school classes. I got a B I think. I took psychology. I had a very weird situation and it was very experimental at that time what I did. If I had known I could do that all along I would have gotten some core classes out of the way. I was an honors student, but I was forced to drop my elective courses and take something else in order to graduate because my school district would not let me graduate with most of my elective credits being music oriented. I was only allowed to count 4 music classes towards graduation credits so it left me 2 credits short to graduate. (I was in band, choir, and show choir). My last year of school I had SOOOO easy. I had band, journalism, english, choir, show choir, and yearbook, then at semester I had to drop all the music courses and I took the psychology class to make up for them and i got out of school at noon every day, the college course met tuesdays and thursdays, so I was out of school at noon 3 days a week. It rocked.

Blestmom thanks for the pics! I leave Thursday night! I'M SO EXCITED :)

(Seriously...I don't even care about politics anymore...has anyone noticed I haven't commented on anyone's political comments? Sorry, I'm reading them, I've just given up caring. Because I? I am going to Disney World!)

Oh, and JB: he's a cutie!

Good morning everyone! Hope you all have a fantastic day today. Off to read the trainwrecks out on the CB. Wish me luck that I get back here safely today. :)

Good Morning Everyone!

I could look at those pictures every morning!

Thanks for the advise on the college program. He did go into school early (6am) to take the entrance exam. I say at that hour if they can write any coherent thought they should get in! Anyway I guess I'll know more detail tonight when he gets home from Musical rehearsal. I was reading the thread out on the CB about these classes and getting into college too. It is always hard to know what is the best decision when you don't know the outcome! ;) For sure the tuition is less than it would be at college even considering we would pay high school tuition and college tuition for the class.

Ha, I know the feeling...I've been downloading the Rush podcasts. But he's off this week so I've downloaded all these WDW podcasts. Guess what I've been listening to this morning?

I'm sure my interest in the harsh realities of politics will come back eventually but I want to delay it for as long as possible...

Good morning everyone!

JB, can I just say that Jacob is soooo darn cute? And speaking of so darn cute, here is my grandson with my husband on Sunday morning before Grandpa had to head back to Iraq. He was working his grandpa magic, conking little Mr. Man out for a nap. At this point, though, Ronin still thought he was staying awake. :rotfl: Two minutes later he was snoozing.
