Hi all, just checking in. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I came down with a virus last week and I haven't been at my computer since... Wednesday, I think? The last time I've been offline that long is when I went on vacation in August! My mom finally starts radiation tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well and it won't tire her out too much. They took so long getting it started that even now, even though we moved our WDW vacation back by over 3 weeks, she's going to finish 10 days before we leave. The length of time this has dragged on is enough to drive a person batty.

I'm tuckered out myself and still weak, so I'm about to hit the hay shortly. Did anyone join D23? I want to, but already bought the magazine last Tuesday, so I'll wait until the next issue comes out to join.

Can I ask you all a question....If I were to ask you why you feel entitled to redistribution funds"Sharing the Wealth"....or why you think one feel this way...what would you say?

I started a thread and I am not getting my answers ...well DISUNC answered it right But who listens to him, he has green hair.

almost 200 pages and they keep saying well because some need it and are in dire trouble...well fine but that is not answering my moral question of why they feel they deserve it....or are entitled to it.......there is more ot it you will have to read my thread....

i would tell you that i deserve other people's wealth due to my unlimited charm and good looks, and my never-ending sharp wit.

as for all those others, they don't deserve a penny...not attractive enough.

Well is that not in the eyes if the beholder maybe it should be redistribute the wealth to the ugly ones and the beautiful ones have to share there beauty and give some of it up.....

I'd say I'm not entitled to it. But, hey, I'm a crazy conservative... what do I know?

I'd say other people think they are entitled to it because the rich are evil and nobody should have that much more than others. In other words, they deserve it because they were born. Simply because they exist.

I think they believe this because it's what they've been told to believe. If they stopped to have an independant thought, and really gave it consideration, they might realize how wrong that is. They do not realize this kind of victim mentality is exactly what keeps them down. It's designed to. And that, my friends, is the whole point.

I can understand why someone would feel they should share their good fortune but I do not identify with those who feel they deserve to be on the receiving end of that equation.

Well I have never had an entitlement mentality, but I recently learned an interesting perspective from a lib here on the DIS. They think that success is primarily a result of luck, and so the lucky should be more than willing to share their rewards with the unlucky.

I guess in some of their minds it is not about taking, but rather they focus on people should desire to contribute their good fortune. Of course that contribution should be determined by the government in their opinion, rather than the individual. That system can't be sustained for long though. We are a predominately giving people, in spite of the fact that it is the greedy minority who we hear about in the news. But we don't appreciate being dictated to on how to distribute our charitable givings. Nobody will ever convince me that government knows best.

I disagree on luck being the dominate contributing factor to the majority of people who are a success. Sure it can play a factor, but the American spirit has always encompassed an attitude of hard work and determination if you want to achieve your goals. The more the government gives to people, the more it robs them of their ability to be motivated and work with an attitude that self-reliance is an admirable trait.

Certain types of government welfare result in enslaving people in a cycle of generational dependence. Unless the American Dream is redefined, they have limited opportunities to achieve the level of success most have hoped for, because the system is designed to hold the majority at a minimal level of subsistence.
