Tolerable or Intolerable? We're planning to get the refillable mugs, so will fill up at Roaring Forks at Wilderness Lodge. We drink pretty good coffee at home, but I'm also used to less than great coffee at work. Wondering whether it's worth the hassle to bring small filters and coffee with us, but would rather not if it's tolerable.

Edit: I should mention that I know they give you a pod for the coffee maker in the room, but that will not be enough for us, so I figured if we're going to use the brewer in the room, I'd bring supplies.

The only way I can make it tolerable in the food courts is to mix in some hot cocoa.

I always bring my own for the room. You can use a napkin if you forget the filters.

CR and Poly have better coffee available, as do a few other places- but you have to hunt them down. There was a thread about it somewhere, will see if I can find it.

Here's a fantastic article on WDW coffee (you have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to read the beginning).

They serve Nescafe concentrated coffee. It's really horrible. There are few locations throughout WDW where you can find brewed coffee. (the article mentions this).

This trip I'm going to bring instant coffee in the bags (similar to tea bags). It's not brewed, but it's still so much better than WDW coffee. On vacation I don't want to have to clean the coffee pot in the room daily :rotfl2: Nor do I want to bring filters, grounds, etc.....

IMO, it's really not tolerable. If you're a coffee fantatic like myself, it's worth bringing your own.

It's bad. I thught people were overreacting until I had some at ASMo. I thought something was wrong with it, like it hadn't been brewed properly. I had good coffee at Starring Rolls and The Writer's Shop in DHS. I didn't try it anyplace else.

The Kona Island Cafe Coffee Bar at the Poly is coffee worth going out of your way for. Other then that I would say bring your own. Disney has aweful coffee.

I actually pack my little electric percolater.......Farberware, I think it is, 4 to 6cups.. I bring my own coffee, Green Mountain, and on my way to WDW, I buy spring water, as Florida water for me is not great, and light cream as that is what my husband uses at home..

We start our day with fresh perked coffee from home.....that is how bad I think the coffee is at WDW. Kona coffee bar is ok, but I would check the hours as I know it is open in the am, but not other times.... Some of the restaurants you can get French Press, which is good, usually in the evening. I know Citrico's does it, and I believe Spoodles for breakfast and Kona Cafe at the Poly... if my memory serves me correctly. French Press is not bad.

Battery acid is far better than the "coffee" Disney has.

Last year at Pop, I got the refillable mug for morning coffee and HAD to mix it with the cocoa in order to drink it at all (and even then it was pretty bad).

This year, we stayed at CBR and had a little 4-cup coffee maker in the room. I brought my own fancy, flavored coffee from home and a package of filters (which cost me about $1 at Target). It was SOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. The resort had disposable, insulated cups (small ones) so we could bring a cup of Joe and sip it while waiting for the bus in the morning.

Definately worth it to bring your own...WDW has boiled coffee!

I also pack a big "to-go" cups so I can drink on the way to the parks/buses and not have to carry a cup around. It is nice to drink a cup in your room as you get ready for the day...sometimes the weather is too hot to drink coffee once you get outside!

gross..awful.....not tolerable....& I drink just about any kind of coffee....WDW is the only place I've had really gross coffee....

I bring my little 4 cup one from home when we stay value....

This is what you need. Coffee and filter all in one and easy to pack. Not fancy coffee but better than what they have on property.

At the TS places the coffee isnt that bad...the CS places stink

It is pretty gross, but I am addicted to coffee so if that is the only coffee I can find - I'll drink it. HOWEVER, like a PP said - sometimes it is too hot outside to drink coffee so I get my fix with a Red Bull in the AM.

Ok, I had to go register and delurk so that I could respond to this. Coffee is a must have for me EVERY morning and while something is better than nothing...I AM pretty picky. Here's what we're going to do for our upcoming trip in April.

Last year I discovered portable french presses. They're basically one person travel mug sized french presses. You can brew it and then drink it from the same vessel! I bring pre-ground coffee in a ziploc baggie and my plan is to use the in room coffee brewer to get my water hot. I'll be taking my french press/mug along with me in the mornings because I like to reduce the amount of things I throw away and I can just rinse it out and throw it in my bag when I'm done...but you could easily pour the coffee into a disposable to-go cup once it's ready. And some people, such as my DFi, have said that they don't like the "muddiness" of coffee from a french press. For him I just pour the brewed coffee from the french press through a filter into another mug.

Anyway, it's not much hassle IMO to bring the stuff with me. I'll just throw a couple of french presses in my bag with a bag of coffee and I'll be set for the week! Woohoo!

Actually, Green Mountain Coffee has the portable french presses (as mentioned above).. here's a link... Green Mountain Coffee Press selections Oh, and they're only $10

they're plastic, have a press... I have one, and just might have to bring it with me in Oct!!! ;)

I may be the only one, but I like the resort coffee. At home, I grind my own beans and fresh brew. Maybe I have a lot of latitude, but the resort coffee is far better than that of many national chain restaurants.
I love Starbucks and despise the top two national coffee brands...

Surly, someone else must like WDW refillable mug coffee...

I also do not mind the coffee at the resorts. I usually only drink 1 or 2 cups a day and that is with a fair amount of cream/creamer or milk. Where I work, the coffee is usually pretty strong, so I prefer it diluted with the milk/creamer.
Also, as a side note, I do not like the coffee shop coffees that so many are addicted to. So I guess I am just "different". But like everyone, we all have different tastes and what I like others may find disgusting and vice versa.
Take some of the individual cup items others listed, but give the resort coffee a try and make your own decision.

I was very happy last trip I packed filters and Dunkin Donuts coffee. Every morning I made a pot and I was okay for the rest of the day. I don't like the coffee at Disney:scared:
