conquering ride fears

Yea I can...I am a chicken at 41. Give me a coaster anyday. Scary elevators...:scared1: The theming is very good, I will say.:thumbsup2

As far as you FreshTressa...go on RNR. As a coaster person, that is the most fun you will ever have on a coaster. ;)

I think that the Tag Fairy was reading and got confused, because I'm the one that got the embarrassing tag. :rotfl: Will I ever learn to keep my mouth shut? It was you that I'd asked to get the tag!!! :lmao:

I also like RnR, but it's a little too jolting and triggers my migraines if I go on it too many times in a row.

I'll help you Tigger&Belle and stand up for our favorite ride! I just can't see why people don't like TOT! It's so much fun! No twists, no turns! Such a cool feeling!

OH, to the OP, I won't go on Mission Space due to major claustrophobia. DH and DS17 love it and must go every trip!

Any other TOT fans out there? :woohoo:

My sister and I have a dream of being allowed to stay on ToT for a couple of hours. We'd even get off and get back on, as long as we don't have to keep doing the preshow. I love the whole package at that ride--the preshow, the actual ride, and being there with the other people, especially the people first in the morning who've never ridden. It was so funny having my little guy look at them and say how many times he'd gone on it when they were expecting him to be so scared. :rotfl:

The Mystery Machine, is that a new tag? :teeth:

Ummmm....T&B, somehow you "know" the tag fairy, huh?.....This needs to be examined.....:scratchin :scratchin :scratchin

As far as TOT for a COUPLE OF HOURS!!! Now THAT is something "tagworthy". Clearly you have taken one two many trips in the scary elevator.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

LOL, I can't even say that I sleep with the tag fairy! :rotfl: Or any fairy, for that matter. :teeth:

I should tally the total number of times that I've gone on ToT. I don't know that I could remember for sure, but it's been lots. Too much fun for sure and I even went my last day of the last trip with a tummy ache. That was kind of stupid. :crazy2:

I would not start with tot, personally. I'm fairly wimpy...used to go to disneyland a lot when I was a kid living in california, but it took me a long time, until college, till I would try space mountain (this was before splash). I did splash mountain and big thunder for the first time when I was in my mid-late 20s at wdw, and I also did TOT (haven't been since RnR came along).

Splash is my favorite ride but I'll be honest and say that I ride it in spite of the drop, not because of it. Its just a wonderful ride. The first time thru I was terrified because I didn't know what to expect and kept expecting the drop any minute. After the first time thru, and I realized the drop was really obvious and not a suprise, I had a much better experience. But every picture since still has me with my face buried in my husband's shoulder. lol.

BTMR is awesome...to me, its the perfect roller coaster. I know most people think its tame, but I just think its fun. I am amazed at how many years I missed this because I was too scared to try it. And every time I've ridden it since I finally went on the first time, I still get a wee twinge of fear, but then it goes away as soon as the ride starts. There are no big drops, just lots of curves and lots of fun. I think what helps me with roller coasters, even tame ones, is to remember to relax...I used to tense up and get rigid, which makes the experience not fun...it gets jarring. But if I remember to relax and breathe (breathing is important, lol), I love it.

TOT was a unique experience for me. I was excited to go on it, thinking one drop wouldn't be too bad, and since I love twilight zone it would be fun. The guidebook had said one drop, the problem was we went on the trip I rode it the year they changed things...added multiple drops. I thought something was wrong with the ride and it would never end. It was awful. Had I known ahead of time that it was now multiple drops, I think it would have been okay, still scary, but okay, but because I was thrown off it was a very hard experience. Didn't help that I forgot to remind myself to breathe thru it...I held my breath thru most of it. I have yet to get back on it, although I promise I will again someday.

Good luck to you!!!! I would seriously start on something tamer like splash or btmr, and work your way up to tot.

Think about it this way- most thrill rides only last about a minute or two. If you hate the ride, you only have to tolerate it for a minute- you can do almost anything for a minute! Then you never have to do it again if you didn't like it, but you won't have that feeling of not trying. More than likely, of course, you'll have fun! :) Plus you get to see all of the cool stuff in the lines!

The whole "Hey, that six year old kid just came off laughing, how can I be afraid" thing works well for me, too ;)

This is my motivator. I'm 42. I've been sick and had alot of tests and biopsies done. It looks like everything is ok. But the whole time I kept thinking about all the things I missed. I didn't do things because I was afraid, thought I'd look stupid, I was waiting til I loose weight, etc.
What a waste. I just want to start living and not having all those regrets. If God says this is it I want to be able to look in the mirror and say, "Well you've lived a good life, you did alot of the things you wanted to do."
