Connecting studios? Disney hotels?

I am currently waiting for my resale to come through at VWL-- we still have passed ROFR. We're planning on making our first trip home in early November, however, based on what I've read on this board about people booking so far in advance (and the popularity of F&W), I'm a little nervous. Because I have 2 small children who nap and go to bed very early, we were hoping to get a 1 or 2 bedroom. However, if pickings are slim, we may be lucky to get a studio. My question is whether you can get connecting studios? If so, we probably would book two. (My parents are coming and at least we could sit in their room while the kids slept).

If this option isn't available, we may have to use our points at a Disney collection hotel instead of a DVC. Does anyone have any advice on using the hotels with points? Is there a problem canceling your Disney hotel reservation/ and switching your points over, if you get off of the waitlist at a DVC?

AS always, thanks for all of your help.

This is the best board!

None of the DVC resorts have connecting studios. The closest would be 2 rooms away.

If you use points to reserve a non-DVC resort, they are "converted" to reservation points. If you later cancel that reservation, the points may only be used to reserve at another non-DVC resort- they may not be used for a DVC resort.

If what you want isn't immediately available, I'd suggest trying the waitlist before making a reservation at a non-DVC resort with DVC points.

Once you get within 30 days, you may want to then use points at a non-DVC option (it will be more points)- based on your comfort level of waiting for the wait list.

I'd expect at this point you will have a good chance of getting a room- at some DVC resort- for early November without having to use the waitlist.

Good luck!
