We're going to Disney in November with our DS age 3 and DD age 1. We're trying to get a 1 bedroom Villa (so we don't have to go to sleep at 8 and during nap time), but we are waitlisted. In case that doesn't come through we are considering booking 2 rooms. Does anyone know if how Disney handles requests for adjoining rooms in the hotels? ARe requests guaranteed?
ANy suggestions?

i'm guessing it depends on your resort/hotel, but we've had success w/connecting rooms the one time we requested it in the past (all star sports) and were told it would be "no problem" for our sept '04 trip (pop century)... just be sure it is the #1 request in your reservations...

we are getting two rooms at pop for our trip for the same reasons as you w/a twist... ds and i both love (and need LOL) our naps but dd and dh don't want 'em or need 'em (in their opinion!) so the connecting rooms is perfect for that as well as for having a 2nd bathroom and a 2nd tv! plus some privacy for dh/i at the end of the day...

Make sure you ask for connecting rooms if you want them right next to each other with a door that allows you to go from one to the other without going into the hallway. Adjoining rooms in hotel language just means thay are next to each other. Depending on the hotel, they may be the next room number or even across the hall from each other.
My mom used to work as a desk clerk and I've seen quite a few posts from people writing that they got rooms right next to each other, but did not get their request for "adjoining rooms". They didn't realize it, but they got exactly what they requested.

I don't think they are guaranteed. I think they would try their hardest and maybe give you first preference because of the age of your kids. But we've requested connecting rooms 2 times, to connnect with my parents, and 1 time we had no problem (AKL). The other time at the Contemporary, we were down the hall from them since there were no other rooms available.

Good Luck!

Coronado springs resort has a suite that we have used on occasion- its two rooms- one being a regular standard room and they other a murphy bed/ living room. It worked out great with naps, etc.

We were having the same issue last year when we went to WDW. My daughter was only 1 year old and we did not want to have to stay in the room and be quiet for her naps or all go to bed at 8 p.m. either. We were staying at the GF and the cost for a suite was so much that we decided on 2 connecting rooms. I know when you call Disney reservations they tell you that they are not guaranteed, but they will do everything they can to make this happen. When I called the Grand Floridian directly and spoke to manager at the front desk, he put a note on our reservation to make sure we had connecting rooms because it was for our children. They listed one room with my husband's name and my son in that room, and the other room with my name and my daughter's name in that room. They said that if they know the connecting rooms are for children that are very young, you will get them. Some people that just want connecting rooms for example for the Grandparents may not get them, since they need them for families with children. I would call the resort you are staying at like 3 or 4 days before to confirm that you definately need the 2 rooms to be connecting. Just make sure you book two rooms now with Disney reservations and have them make a note that you need them to be connecting. It was a wonderful vacation for all of us since my daughter could stick to her naps in one dark and quiet room, while I could leave the connecting door half way open and still watch t.v. or sit out on the balcony for her nap time. Also at night she was tired and ready to go to bed by 8 p.m. and the rest of us could stay up much later.

I don't know how old your children are, but my daughter needed a full size crib, since she was tall for her age and never slept well in the pack n plays. We received a phone number from the GF front desk for Children's Furniture Rental that delivers and sets up full size wooden cribs 62"x48" with the linens, bumper pad and all. I spoke with Roy who was so pleasant and he made arrangements with the resort to have it all set up and ready for us when we got in our rooms! Only $9.00 a night to rent, and was worth every penny for a peaceful vacation. The phone number for Children's Furniture Rental is (407) 522-0233. Anything you would need for your trip (Strollers, High Chairs etc. he can have waiting for you in your room). When you check out of your resort he then comes and picks everything up from your room. Very hassle free!!!:wave2:

Long4Disney,

I wish I had this information (about the children's furniture rentals) 4 years ago. My kids are now 7 year olds (twins) and no longer need special kids furniture. However, it was quite something traveling with two little ones who needed special bedding, chairs, etc. We improvised with pack and plays, portable potties, small chairs, etc., however, it certainly made traveling a hassle, especially since everything was x 2. Its sooooo much easier now, not to have to tote all the baby stuff--diapers, wipes, bottles, sippy cups, little spoons, bibs, etc. However, my kids aren't at the stage where they can be responsible for their own packing, as dh found out on a recent trip to Grandma's with the kids, but not mom (I had to work). I set out everything the kids would need and assumed dh would pack it for them. Instead, he told the kids to pack their own bags. Imagine his surprise when he arrived at Grandma's with suitcases stuffed full of gameboys, nintnedo stuff, stuffed animals, coloring books, etc., but not a single item of clothing, not even a sock! Well, WalMart is open 24 hours! Guess we'll do their packing for the forseeable future!
