Connecting rooms request

So, we will be at ASMu in May. We have requested a connecting room with my parents in a quiet area. We plan to check-in online at the 60day mark. I figured when we get there we could stop at the desk (even if our rooms are ready) and ask if they are connecting. If not, ask if they can be changed (if possible) before we head up. Does this sound reasonable?

I usually call the week before and reiterate the request for connecting rooms. All, but one time we have had connecting rooms. The one time we didn't, I found out by the room is ready text and I called and asked if it could be changed. They did change it to connecting, but we ended up in a different section of the hotel (pop century 70s vs 50s I had requested originally).

Yes. I would make the connecting your only request though. The more requests added the harder it is to make it happen.

Just be aware that there is a limited number of connecting rooms, and priority will likely be given to families with underage kids too numerous to fit in one room.

I will warn you, according to my Disney Dreams Unlimited TA, the Music is the worst resort at which to try and get connecting rooms. Many of them were used up to make the family suites. Put the request in and ask about it at check in. That is really all you can do. There is no guarantee you will get them, but you can always ask to move if they open up.

Add "traveling with" to each of the two reservations. That might make it easier to get connecting rooms.

Connecting rooms are never guaranteed. Your plan is reasonable, but will still not ensure that your request is met. They do try, but can not always meet it

Totally agree with this. And with the suggestion to make it your only request. I have two stories. Once, with my mother-in-law (who seems to need connecting rooms) and her sister. My mother-in-law (I love her, this is not a down on her) insisted that we be in the 50s section at Pop Century because her sister would love it (she didn't) and that we have connecting rooms. Once we got there, we were in the 70's and connecting. So we asked to be moved to the 50s but there were no connecting rooms. In fact, there was one room in between us so not even adjoining. But, the sister had said she wanted 50s so we took it. And I am so glad we did.

Another time, also with the mother-in-law, father-in-law, my dad and stepmother and my son and his family so four rooms. Still at Pop Century. I asked for connecting rooms for the older folks and the same for the younger ones. And nothing else. And we got exactly what I asked for.

If you need connecting rooms for medical issues, then state that. Otherwise, go with what they have.
