Connecting room with someone on a different reservation

My parents are coming with us on our trip to WDW. They are on their own reservation but will be there the same days we will be. If I request connecting rooms with them, how likely is it that WDW hotel staff will link the two reservations and honor our request? Anyone else done something like this?

You should call reservations and have them link you and your patents' reservations in the system. Unfortunately, linked or not, connecting rooms are never guaranteed.

There's no guarantee, but we've had Disney link our reservations together and have been able to get connecting rooms both times we asked. Good luck!

Follow the suggestions above to have the reservations linked, make sure that both rooms are booked in the same booking category, call to verify that your first request is for "Connecting rooms" for both reservations.

If you keep this as your only request you have a good chance of it being met. Just a reminder as PPs above indicated: it is only a request and not a guarantee. This will get you to about a 50/50 chance.

This cannot be said enough. If you really want connecting rooms, be sure it is noted as your first request, and if you will be very unhappy if you are not granted connecting rooms, make it your only request.

You can request connecting rooms, but they are never guaranteed. I have been unlucky enough to not get them multiple times now.

The only time we requested connecting rooms, and it was our only request, we did not get them. We got adjoining rooms, but no interior door like we were hoping for.

These posts show how requests are simply requests. I have requested connecting rooms three times in 11 years and have gotten them. We really wanted them though, because turned down a complimentary upgrade to Hawaii building CL because they could only bump one room. Looking back.....LOL!

Exactly!
we request connecting rooms often, either for my elderly Mom or for the grandkids for babysitting purposes. It averages out to be pretty close to a 50:50 on getting them or not. You will usually get rooms either adjacent or at least very close together, though.

Good luck!!!

You'll need to add "Traveling with" and then the other reservation number added to each reservation.

We are interested in requesting this, am I correct in assuming that if I can see both my and my sisters reservations on reservations page we are "linked" and I can just call to put the request in?

There is no "linking" unless you request for them to be near each other by including traveling with on each of them. If the reservation isn't yours, you can't do anything with it.

We booked them on the same phone all for bounce back offer. The cm must have put us as traveling together then, cause I can see both her reservation and my reservation on MDE.

You can be "linked" as family and friends though MDE and not have a "travel with" on your reservation. Last year my cousin and her family were linked with my reservation. I booked all our meals and fastpasses but I had to call and explicitly ask for them to put a "travel with" on our reservation.
