Connecting flights

I am sure this has been asked before but here goes, I am flying out of Detroit on American Dec.15th. We Land in Miami at 3:12pm, change planes and head to MCO at 4:04pm. Are we gonna have enough time to get to the gate. I have never had connecting flights before so not sure what to expect. Will they transfer my luggage? Do I have to go through Security again? I am traveling with my DH and 2 DD 7 and 9. We can run if we have to but not sure we will make the next flight if we have to go through security again..

Any advice would be deeply appreceited.

You should have enough time to transfer to the next gate and board. Generally it is best to always give yourself an hour between connecting flights, which you basically have. Once you have gone through security in Detroit you will not need to go through security again, and your checked luggage will be transferred to the next plane for you.

The only thing I could see being an issue is that the gates may be far apart, which may cause you to walk at a brisk pace to the next gate to get on your next flight. Don't worry to much, have safe flights, and enjoy your first visit to the world! :teeth

you may also try to get a map of the Miami airport then the day before you leave (might even be able to do it sonner get your gate #'s so you can get an idea of where you're going.
Also I know it's hard with DD's but try to limit carry-ons just more to slow you down getting from gate to gate.

If your flight arrives in Miami at the scheduled arrival time (plus or minus 10 minutes), you should have no problem getting to your connecting gate in time.

However...

• Miami International Airport is huge, and American Airlines is spread across multiple concourses. It can be a considerable walk from one AA gate to another.
• You won't have to go though security again.
• Be careful not to exit from the secure area. If you follow the crowd, and you don't pay attention, you may find yourself on the other side of the security checkpoints; in that case, you'll need to go through a security screening again.
• There's construction going on in the American Airlines terminal. It's a mess. You may have to go up and down various stairs, or you may have to turn right in order to go left. Follow the signs, and if you're unsure, ask an AA employee.
• Your checked luggage will be transferred for you.
