Connecting flight Airtran at ATL

We have a connecting flight with AirTran. 1st plane arrives in ATL at 9:30 and the other AirTran plane leaves at 10:15.

Another problem is I can't do online check-in for some reason. I go through all the steps and get to the last one with an error page. So I don't know what gate etc. for either flight.

Just wondering what how that will work at ATL airport. Never been at ATL and checked their website and it looks like all the terminals are in one area. So, it looks like not much running to a whole other part of the airport. But, I could be wrong.

Any help on this is appreciated as we leave tonight/morning!

What is your origination airport, Midway? If so, it looks like you could be using Air Tran flights 31 with a connection to their flight 847. If that is the case, you will probably be using Concourse C.
The connection shouldn't be a problem.

Honestly, doing a flight with less than an hour between getting on your connecting flight isn't a wise thing to do at Atlanta. I have connected thru Atlanta many times, and we always have had to circle for a while before landing. Then it seems you have to taxi forever to get to the gate.

Even if you are staying at the same terminal, you have left yourself only 15 minutes to bet to your next gate before they start boarding. That is more of an issue now if you have a carry-on that needs to go in the overhead compartment.

I'm only trying to scare you a little. I have done a 47 minute connection thru Atlanta before, and by the time we got to our connecting gate the flight was already loading. And that was with out landing early! Don't stop for anything! Use the restroom on the airplane. Hopefully you will only have to walk down a few gates, but you never know. Plan to move fast! And if you can, change your seat assignments on your first flight to as close to the front of the plane as possible. Every extra minute you can gain will be a huge help!

I've flown through ATL on Airtran several times, and I think I've yet to have my connecting flight be in the same terminal. However, Airtran seems really bad about having either very short connecting times or very long connecting times, nothing much in the middle, so I will usually do a connection with at least 40 minutes, but pass on those that are only 30 minutes. Best advice is get off the plane ASAP, move directly to your next gate - no stopping - and make sure you are at the gate before you go to the bathroom or get anything to eat. Also make sure you look at a map of the airport beforehand so you have an idea how things are laid out.

As far as the airport layout and not having to run to a different part of the airport, not true. I don't remember which terminals I have had to change to, but you have to get on a little train thingy and go to the other side of the airport. From what I remember, it wasn't close.

If you know where you are going, the train isn't too big of a deal. All Airtran flights are in/out of terminals C and D. The majority seem to be C, but they do use some low D gates as well. If anyone finds they have to move between C and D, simply go to the middle of the terminal and take the escalator down to the train. The train comes every 3 minutes and zips you to the next terminal. It is very fast. You can walk, but don't do it! It takes lots longer. Once at the next terminal, simply take the escalator back up to gate level and go to your gate. You should be fine. I have a 47 minute connection in March and am not too worried about it, as long as the flight is on time. I have never missed a connection, but have had to run to get to my next one before. I saw a wonderful blur of DFW last April as I ran to my next gate there....... looked like a very nice airport! LOL

For a connection, here is what I do. I deplane as fast as I can. Check the departures board to make sure my connecting gate hasn't changed (and it always seems to change), and I hustle to the next gate. Then, and only then, do I think about using the bathroom or getting something to eat.
