Hi,
I debated over whether or not to post this. But so many of you have been here with us from the start of everything that i thought most of you might like to know this. This past Thursday Ink and Smalld graduated from middle school. Now I know many many kids do but this was such an emotional day for all of us. As I sat in the audience it was all we (me and smalld's mom) could do not to cry. If someone had told me when school started we would be at this point i would not have believed them. I could not see the next day never mind that far ahead. Yet here we were the end of the school year with the excitement of High School on the Horizon. I could not believe we had made it.
What made the event even more special was that both boys won awards.
Ink- Slinkyman won his honor roll certificate for maintaining all A's and B's all year. That was an amazing feat considering everything he had been through and the amount of days he had missed. Even on treatment days he would come home and do the school work smalld would bring home for him.
Smalld- this award was so deserving. Every year there is 1 eighth grade boy and girl chosen to win the Rotary club Citizenship award. Each teacher submits 1 girl and 1 boy and why they feel they should win. Then it is voted on by administrators. This year Smalld was chosen for the Citizenship award for boys. He has showed caring ways towards his friends. He was always there when Ink needed him, brought home the school work, stood up for him and helped him when he was too weak to manage somethings on his own. I am so happy that the teachers saw this and acknowledge this trait in him.
We are very excited and proud of the boys. They have come a long way in a year- overcome many hurdles and obstacles and came through as better people-better young men because of it. So Ink and Smalld it has been a heck of a year and this is to you-
Congratulations
You both did an awesome job!!
