Confused!!!

We stayed at WL last year, so WC was on our dining list for dinner and we absolutely loved it. DH does not like to be the center of any attention and usually gets uncomfortable in places like that, but he insisted we go back this year for breakfast. Our then 4 year old was not in a good mood and our waiter was so gracious to try and make him feel better.

We have a ressie this year on my birthday...however I won't be sharing that piece of information with the waiter!!:rotfl:

The lodge itself is worth the trip. It is stunning.

We loved wcc when we went last summer. the girls want to go back there. the food was good. You need to go in with a good, open attitude and expect some "humor".

As for paying oop for one meal, usually breakfast are cheaper than dinner, so check online menus and prices and see what would be cheapest meal and pay oop for that meal.

We've been twice. The first time was lots of fun. We enjoyed the food, had a great server, antics were good, and generally had a positive experience. The second time, the service was poor, the food not so good, and it just didn't seem as much fun. We are not going back. I would not make a special trip and pay OOP for it.

A meal at the Whispering Canyon is what got my husband to agree to a 2nd trip this year! :lmao: He LOVED his food and the experience was awesome, too! My son STILL yells for ketchup, even when we're out at other restaurants! We speak highly of this place and have told friends about it & they've included it in their ADR's. LOVE that place!

It is one of our favorite places to eat. I normally do not care for loud, active dining, but this is so much fun. But I have known people who have hated it as well.

Our trip this year, (week ago),we went to WC for dinner our first full night and it was just as yummy as we remember. But do know, that 5 ressie is when they open so they won't be very full and sometimes the time can lag. We did that first ressie slot and didn't get the whole experience. There wasn't ketchup on tables already and when someone yelled for it, it wasn't as big a deal as I remember from last time. My advice would be move it back an hour or so to get the full experience.

The food was really yummy. Daughter and niece got milkshakes. But we did have to pay for one. Was told that we could only get one per table. So I don't know if they made a mistake or what. Of course, we were all too full for dessert so they boxed it up and we took it back to the room. Yum!! The skillet was very yummy. The pulled pork was to die for and the ribs were falling off the bone. UGH. Making myself hungry just thinking about it.

I don't want to make it too late since this is our only early night to return to the hotel and just chill. Do you think 5:30pm would be late enough to at least get a few people in the restaurant? Also, my cousin said they ran out of the stick horses and her DD was not able to participate (they also had the 5:05pm ressie) so now I am a little concerned about that too b/c my DD is so looking forward to riding a stick horse in a restaurant and yelling for ketchup!!!:confused3

I had heard how fun Whispering Canyon for dinner was for the kids, so I booked us dinner one of our nights at Magic Kingdom. We have an 8am breakfast for that morning at Crystal Palace and have a ressie at Whispering Canyon at 5pm. After dinner we were going to have an early night and go back to the hotel and hang out at the pool. We are on the dining plan and have 7 table services, but have 8 booked, so we will have to pay for one of our meals out of pocket. My cousin and her family just went and her and her husband said the food is not worth leaving Magic Kingdom for and having to pay out of pocket??? So now I don't know whether to keep the ressie or cancel it and do a counter service or order pizza at the pool at our hotel.
Pay for your cheapest meal out of pocket... if it is a toss up between WC or CP.. pay for CP as you are going for breakfast and that is cheaper than diner.

If I pay for CP out of pocket, are our drinks and coffee included in the buffet, or are they extra???
TIA

My family and I did the same thing June of 08. We ate breakfast at CP and then had 5:30 resevations at WCC. It worked out great. We ate the big breakfast and had a Dole Whip for lunch. Then by the time dinner came around everyone was ready for that huge skillet. The 5:30 reservation was great, not too crowded but still had enough people to get the full experience. I also have to agree that the corn bread was heavenly!

The CP buffet is also one price. I think last year it was 20 dollars for adults. And the service was terrific!

Do they allow kids to order the skillet if using the dining plan? When I look up the kids menu, they don't offer the skillet on the kids menu??? DD's favorite is ribs, so she would be highly upset if she couldn't get ribs!!! LOL
TIA

To the OP... Be sure and pick your CHEAPEST TS meal for the entire week, not just that day, to pay out of pocket. Disney doesn't say "You've got 1 TS PER DAY" but rather you have "XX TS meals for your stay". So, if you use 2 TS in 1 day, then you will be "short" a TS at the end of the week.

In other words, check out the prices for each of your meals, and pick the one that will be the cheapest (possibly a breakfast buffet, or a resturaunt where you chose to NOT order all the extras at dinner... like dessert & a drink, and possible have the kids share a meal rather than getting 2 kids' meals).

Allears.net has all of the menus available, and can help you plan for pricing (it's also good to use to help estimate tips for your meals).
