confused Please help

Hi I am new here, I was given the site by a family member. We will be visiting WDW April 24- May 1. And I have no clue on the wheres and whats. I have 3 daughters ages 19, 17, and 4. I am concerned for the 4 year old. The older girls can usually make their own good time. However I would love to see all have a magical time.
Anyway, I am reading some of the posts and am very confused on such things as, " PS" "CRT" Could somone please help with the lingo here. In addition to telling me where and when to take my 4 year old. Any help to make this trip absolutely wonderful and unforgettable will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the DIS, Nina!!! This is a great place to come to get ready for your trip... you'll find lots of helpful folks to help with the planning.

You'll see PS a lot on the Restaurants board- it means Priority Seating. It's similar to (but not exactly like) a reservation. These help a lot during busy times or at very popular restaurants. Getting one of these for breakfast at CRT (Cinderella's Royal Table, the restaurant in the castle) is quite a challenge!

Your 4 yr. old daughter might enjoy the Princess Storybook breakfast in Norway at Epcot. It's similar to Cindy's Royal Table and you'd probably have to call early (4 a.m. - YIKES!) to snag a PS for that.

Another character breakfast that is fun and easier to get is at the Beach Club -- the Cape May Buffet. It features Minnie (greets guests at the entrance), Goofy and Chip 'n Dale.

If you want a high energy, fun breakfast, try to get a PS for Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary (again call EARLY). Be aware -- this is loud, fast-paced, and very energetic.

Crystal Palace in MK has some fun character meals and Liberty Tree Tavern has a nice character dinner.

Fantasy Land in the Magic Kingdom would be great for your 4 year old. Also Toontown is great for the little ones, also in the Magic Kingdom but a separate area.

Yes I too would start with Magic Kingdom. You can buy guide books at your bookstore with maps that will help you get aquainted with the parks before hand. There is also one that is made for kids. It describes the rides so she can choose the rides that she would feel comfortable with.
Go to web sites like www.wdwig.com to check out menus and www.mousesavers.com.
Plan a couple of PS (priority seating are almost like dining reservation) at places that look good.

are you staying on property? meaning at an official Disney hotel or somewhere else? that makes a difference in some ways on how and what you plan.
I also suggest you invest in on of the good books on DW with children. your book store will have several of them.
It really pays to do your homework when going to WDW it is an enormous place and there are a lot of tips on what to do to get the most out of it.

I appreciate all of the replies I received. I was able to get 3 different PS character breakfasts for our trip.
We will be at Chef Mickeys ,4/25, Park Fare 4/27, and then Crystal palace with Pooh and Gang. 4/29

I am hoping this will be an AWE experience for all of us. including my teenagers. Not just my 4 year old.

My other question is, I shop on Ebay alot, and there is an offer for Meal Vouchers for Disney World. Does anyone know anything about these things?

In addition to that, we will be staying outside of Disney at the Summer Bay Resort. Has anyone ever stayed there, and is this going to be a problem of travel to and from Disney itself. Am I being a nag, Sorry We are flying in and getting aan SUV at the airport. Our plan is to get in at 9 am, eat and go to Downtown disney for some shopping . We can't check in until 4. So would this be my best bet. I am very sorry for all of my questions. I just hear sooo many things from other people. And non of it is the same. Too much to do I guess.

I have never stayed off Disney property so I can't help there. Everyone will tell you something different. I don't usually go into the parks the day we arrive. I usually stay at the hotel or visit other hotels or do Downtown Disney.
I don't know about the meal vouchers. They may be the kind that you get on-line when you join a dining club. I would be cautious. Maybe someone else will know more.
You will have a good time but don't over think the whole "we MUST have a good time thing". Just try to enjoy the trip and then you will.
unfortunately you will probably become an addict like many of us so there will be more trips!

Don't buy those on ebay! On the budget board there is a thread that explaines how to buy them and use them. They retail at $11.25 not the $15+ they go for on ebay. Here is a link...

I would not buy the meal vouchers off of e-bay. They go for way more than you would pay for them. You can join the Hotwaire Savings Club--first month is free--order the Q&C vouchers from them. Cancel the next month if you dont want to keep the plan. If you check out the budget board at the top is list IMPORTANT threads and there is one all about the meal vouchers.

Welcome to the DIS. You will find tons of valuable info here.

One suggestion...your older girls will be fine, but keep in mind that WDW is huge with tons to do and might be a little overwhelming for your 4 year old. So know going in that you cannot possibly do and see everything, and try to plan some down time. Maybe go back to the resort in the afternoon for a nap or swim. It will go a long way to preventing 4 y.o. meltdowns and making for a better trip for all of you.

You're not being a nag. I think most people here are happy to help a "newbie".

My number one piece of advice for you would be to get one of the guide books to WDW. My two favorites are The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and the Passporter Walt Disney World. Both can give you excellent advice about planning your vacation and are well worth the $15 or so you'll spend on them. You can find them at most large bookstores or at Amazon.

Nina, I usually stay off site and it's no problem at all to get back and forth to WDW with a car. I wasn't clear if you were renting one or relying on shuttle service.

Shuttle service isn't my favorite way to get back and forth. I prefer to pay for parking and control when I come and go.

Once suggestion I have since you have such an age gap with the kids is to try to get your youngest daughter a stoller. You can claim it's just for backpacks etc when you first get there, but she'll be exhausted long before the older kids are and you will all appreciate her being able to be pushed and not have to end the day before the rest are tired.

My first experience at Disney was as a teen and my 6 year old sister pooped out every day long before I had my fill of the parks.

With two teens you can let them go off on their own quite a bit as long as you have good communication to meet up when you need to.
