My daughter (9) is fully vaccinated- if she happens to come in contact with a children (in her rotation group at the kids club) that does test positive during the cruise (assuming the child has symptoms) would she also have to quarantine? Trying to decided if I should send her to the club if there is a possibility that we would have to quarantine because of the possible interaction with other kids. We are sailing before the kids vaccine mandate

Yes, close contacts from the Club/Lab are required to quarantine even if testing negative. There is a report around here from about a month ago from someone in that situation.

Our TA called DCL yesterday and was told that there is not a “policy” on this situation and that each situation would be evaluated and handled accordingly.

I remember reading a post about that too but the child wasn’t fully vaccinated. Does that change it at all?

Good question. My guess... no it doesn't matter. I say that because they apparently are quarantining staff identified as close contacts even with a negative test, and all staff must be fully vaxxed.

It would be nice for them to state the policy so that people can make better decisions. Even if they just stated it on the first day of the cruise. I do understand that stuff can change during a cruise due to the ever evolving situation.

It sounds like cruise lines are only quarantining people that test positive. If they wanted to quarantine everyone that comes in contact with someone that tested positive they might end up quarantining the whole ship. I think if you are going to cruise right now you should be prepared for anything.

DCL has definitely quarantined kids who test negative but are close contacts. I believe it was a Youth CM who posts here occasionally who said they were not differentiating vaxxed vs unvaxxed, at least with regards to kids. That may have been earlier this fall and the policy may have changed, but I haven't seen or heard anything indicating DCL is no longer quarantining close-contact kids. I think with adults the issue is they aren't really able to contact trace who moves about the ship coming into contact with others; but with the kids in the Club/Lab it is easy.

I was reporting what I've read about "cruise lines"not specifically DCL. I haven't read any news reports on DCL.

Also excursions are easy to contract trace. That is why we cancelled all our excursions on the fantasy 8 night in October. We didn’t want to be on a bus or catamaran with other guests who could’ve tested positive and cause us to be quarantined.

CDC just changed guidance on this...not sure if DCL policy aligns. EDITED: like the op, I'm also confused about latest guidance and don't know Disney's policy but my point was...policies are changing.

But then CDC also says don't cruise.

Who knows what news will come out in the next few days?

Actually, they cut the quarantine from 10 days to 5 days if you are exposed, test positive vaccinated and are asymptomatic. But you still must quarantine according to this unless they are boosted too.

That has been CDC guidance for a while now; the new bit reduces quarantine for unvaxxed. DCL was apparently stricter and has been quarantining fully-vaxxed CMs (and possibly guests) identified as close contacts.

Yes, sorry, I was thinking about boosted. Sorry if I'm confusing OP more!

Guess we will see if they change their policies based on new guidance. Thanks for the clarfication.

If you are positive and asymptomatic or symptomatic, unvaxxed or vaxxed positive is positive and you can spread it, right? 2022 looks like it's going to be another interesting year.
