Hello all,
We're DVC newbies and are attempting to budget our points for our 30th anniversary trip in December 2011. Our use year is June. From what I have read, I know we can make the reservation 11 months out, in January 2011. We plan to bank our 160 points issued in June 2010 to be used in the next year (June 2011-May 2012, including our anniversary dates). Then, we will have another 160 points issued in June 2011 to use toward the trip. Here's where the confusion starts. I know we can borrow points for the trip, but if we book in January 2011, won't we already be borrowing from the next use year to make the reservation (the points won't be issued until June 2011)? Soooo, will we will be allowed to borrow from our 2011-2012 points to make the reservation too? Or will I need to find a transfer and bank it before the time of booking to cover that difference? Here's a summary of what I would like to do...
June 2010 - 160 points issued - BANK for use in June 2011 use year
January 2011 - Book trip for December 2011 using all points from June 2010 and all points from June 2011... and would like to use some borrowed from June 2012 issue
June 2011 - 160 points issued for current year - USE in this year
June 2012 - 160 points issued - would like to BORROW some of these for trip - Can this be done when booking in January 2011?
In purchasing, I thought we would have use of essentially three years of points for the trip (one banked, one current use year, and one borrowed), but because of the use year anniversary being in June, it looks like perhaps I miscalculated. I'm really confused on how it could work if you can only borrow one year ahead. Help, please?
