Confused on car hire!!!

Just a quick question,for our may visit to Las vegas, were opting for a fly drive(? booking today), now we require a 4x4 laredo jeep, Virgin who we are booking with are saying the biggest car they do for las vegas is a mini van thing, now the rental is with dollar, so do we take the minivan ,and hope that once we get to Las vegas airport we can upgrade to the jeep??, as the rental is with dollar im presuming that they MUST have an upgrade??!!!.

Weve worked out that doing it this way gets us the 10% discount and free insurance.

If we book flights only we get no discounts etc and have to buy our travel insurance,weve also had a price for a car hire(jeep) seperate,from dollar themselves coming in at over £500. With virgin its working out £300, less discounts etc.

Can you see my logic here???

Yes I can certainly see your logic ....... but I think you will need to go with the idea that the jeep may not be available for you - whwther you go with this or not depends on whether the minivan is really out of the question for you or if it would suffice if the jeep isn't available.

What did you decide to do?

I think I would book with Virgin and see if you could possibly upgrade at the airport,but not set your heart on the jeep in case it isn't available

Kazzie,in the end I booked with Virgin, got a good deal on a minivan,we will try and upgrade to a jeep once we get there but if one isnt avalible at least DS can rattle around as much as he likes in the 5 spare seats!!!LOL.
Seeing as this is going to be a driving trip, we really wanted space so if DS wanted to crash out,or LOL then he could without kicking the back of DH seat!

Anyway all booked,now to plan for 2005!!!!
