Confused on Booking w/banked, current & borrowed

Hi all,

I think I've confused myself again. I am in the middle of booking a trip day by day next year to my home resort of AKL (yeah our first!) for Sept/Oct 08 (I have an August UY). I banked my 07 Aug UY points, so I was working with 320 TOTAL in my 08 UY. A trip to Disneyland has now suddenly come up and we'd like to use points to stay at the Disneyland hotel. So I will need to "borrow" 08 UY points correct since I already banked 07.

This will then lead me to be 4 points short for our Sept 08 reservation. Can I borrow only the 4 points from 09?

AND to make this even more confusing...if we finish making the week reservations for next Sept without making the DL ones, can the points then be switched around? Meaning taking my 08 points and applying them to DL and then using 09 to borrow to the current reservation?

Help and sorry it's sooooo confusing. I eagerly await your advice/help.

Yes, you can borrow only 4 points from '09. And points can be manually re-allocated between reservations, if you find a sympathetic CM, but for 4 points I don't think I would bother as long as you have every intention of not canceling the reservation.

Regarding reallocation: I tried to do this exact thing today. I wanted to use borrowed BWV points for a BWV trip coming up in Jan. rather than a trip in May that I am currently booking day-by-day because there is a chance we may have to cancel the May trip. I was told that I could not reallocate unless the borrowed points were from a canceled reservation. So I booked the day in May with borrowed points, immediately canceled that day and the CM was then able to reallocate the borrowed points to our Jan. trip. Then we rebooked the May date. There wasn't really a risk since there was plenty of availability for the May date and we did not have to cancel and rebook the Jan. date to accomplish the reallocation. I have reallocated points in the past without this messing around, but I guess lots of things are changing these days.

Is the DL trip in 07? If so make that ressie borrowing points from 08 (since you banked all the 07 points). Than you can make the ressie for the AKV in 08 (using the banked points from 07) and then if you need you can borrow the 4 point from 09. This would make it easier from a confiusion stand point. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied to this...DH is now waffeling on going to DL in January, so I'm not pulling any points from anywhere until he is sure. I'm sure he'll end up making it as complicated as possible!

Tell DH that you already made the reservation and since it was made with banked/current/borrowed points you will lose them if you don't go.

disneynutz I like the way you think....BUT I'm trying to save all the points I can for an even bigger trip in 2009, so I won't be tooo sad if we don't make it to DL (plus I HATE to fly, so I'm not missing that at all)
