Confused if I have a date specific ticket

I booked a vacation package through expedia. Unfortunately, it was the weekend of Hurricane Matthew and my flight and hotel were cancelled (Oct 7th to the 12th).

I also booked tickets for Universal (2 day base park ticket + 2 days free) but I think it is date specific. Because they cancelled my flight and hotel, I can no longer use the park ticket. I called Universal and they said normally they don't refund the ticket but because it's weather base cancellation they would BUT since I bought it from Expedia, they said I had to go through Expedia.

When I called Expedia, they said Universal said no. I'm stuck...

When I look at the voucher it says...

Universal Orlando® Theme Park Tickets: 2-Day Base with 2 Days Free
by Universal Orlando

Then

Lead Traveller: ME Tour Date: Oct 7th Tour Duration: 4 days

Does that mean it's a date-specific ticket?

I gave Universal the voucher number and they said they could not confirm if it was date specific or not.

I called Expedia and they said the Voucher is valid for the date of the ticket...which is an ambiguous answer.

I don't care for the refund... but I don't want to be out $1000 (4 tickets CDN)... Universal says talk to Expedia, Expedia tells me to talk to Universal.... In the meantime, I'm on hold (long distance charges to universal) and nothing is done...

Venting, frustrated... Can a date specific ticket be more than 1 day???

Could you ask Expedia to electronically send you the voucher so you can see precisely what it says on it?

That sounds very strange to have a date specific park ticket. There are date specific tickets for HHN and for Express passes but I haven't heard of one for the park. They have expiry dates for some special park tickets but they aren't only good for one day.

I have the voucher -- it says

Lead Traveller: ME Tour Date: Oct 7th Tour Duration: 4 days <--- not sure is this is what is meant as Date Specific?

I'm not there...flights cancelled, hotel cancelled, park closed today so not sure how I would have used the ticket.

I called Universal and they said that since I bought it from Expedia, they should be the ones to refund me... Expedia says they need to go ahead from Universal and that Universal said no... Universal said that they would (I had the rep make sure she noted that in my Universal ticket file) but since the park is close I can't get a straight answer.

Mostly I'm just annoyed because this is no where my fault for cancelling and thought that a TA such as Expedia would take care of their customers better...

Next time, I am going to buy everything direct from the company (airline, hotel, Universal, etc...) because then I don't have to go back and forth between people to get things done...

Maybe try to get Uni to turn the voucher into tix and mail the tix to you? Then you have the actual purchased value in your hands until the next trip.

My voucher through holiday house was the same thing it specified a date. Oct.30. I can't usethe ticket before then I was told. At the bottom of my voucher it days I have to activate it before Dec 16 and use by the 31st since it's a 14 day 3 park unlimited. That might be your case as well.

In your case, the 14 day 3 park ticket expires Dec. 31 because Wet 'n Wild will be forever closed after that date. That's the last date that anyone can use those tickets. It really has nothing to do with being date specific.

It's date specific when I can start to use it

It's date specific when I can start to use it

Does it state that on the voucher or you were told that? All of these packages ask when you are going to use it. Even Undercover Tourist asks the same thing, yet none of those tickets actually are date specific. They are just a normal ticket.

I was told I couldn't use it until the 30th but cam exchange it the day before.

When you get it, can you see if there is a start date on the actual ticket? I imagine it is just a normal 3 park ticket.
