DH received a postcard in the mail today introducing our "new" DVC Guide.

I don't understand this. We met with a Guide, I'll call him "M" in December. He led our tour, we spoke with him, we signed our Intent to Purchase with him, his signature is on it. I am very comfortable with him, and would like him to be my Guide.

Another odd thing is that I am the primary owner, not DH, yet postcard is addressed to DH.

We did tour once about 12 years ago, but I certainly don't remember guide from then, and we have called once in the interim to get more info.

Has this guy, who did nothing (that I can remember), hijack our contract? I am not comfortable with this.

I tried to call "M" - he is not available - he did leave a cell phone number on his voicemail, but I did not call that yet.

Tried to call "new" guide - "L" - but he is on Disney Cruise and won't be back until Monday.

Tried to call regular 800 number, she can't figure it out and said she will have someone call me back, no return call yet. She did say that no Guides have left in the recent past.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

When I spoke to person who answered the phone, she indicated that nobody had left recently. He just started 5 months ago, so I hope he isn't leaving yet.

Still haven't heard back from DVC. If I don't hear soon, I will have to call the cell number.

Our guide (Also an "M") will be retiring sometime within the next year. He told us that DVC sets them up with a system at home, and they can work part-time to continue to service their existing customers. We like our guide, and we will probably choose to retain him as our guide.

I called "M" again and reached him this time.

It appears that "L" did our first tour 12 years ago.

I told him that I would prefer "M" stay as our guide. If there is a problem, I'm willing to talk to management to accomplish this.

I didn't realize that it would stay in the system forever.

I requested information from DVC early in 1999, they assigned me a guide when they sent the info. She called and asked if I had any questions but I was not at home. I intended to buy over the phone, so I called a friend's guide who came highly recommended. He ended up writing up the contracts and I met him a few months later when I was at WDW (I did it backwards, I took the tour after!). He ended up moving to another department, I was then assigned another guide who has called me a couple of times. I stopped in the DVC office last year to see the SSR models, the receptionist noticed I had 2 records on their system! I bet one was the original one and one was the one when I actually bought!

I called DVC to receive information and a guide called me back. I was honest with him and said we were also looking into resales. He was really nice about it and still answered some of our questions. We did end up buying our resale. Months later, the same guide called again and noticed we had purchased. He told us the he would remain our contact since we had a file with him. I was shocked at how nice he was since he made nothing on us. DVC guides are true professionals!

I jsut have to say that I met our Guide in 1998 and ended up buying from him in 1999.Over the years this gentleman (larry) has always made us feel special. He has talked to our friends and helped us more then once with some booking and room situations.I don't know how much commission these guides make on a sale but its nothing compared to what they are worth. I figured after the sale the relationshp would be over,it's just one more reason to buy DVC....

I orginally toured with one guide and did not care for him(2002), and in 2003 requested another guide and had no problem and bought with no problem. Everything went smooth and a great guide!!!!

I'm surprised at how long that data was maintained. I, too, had requested information without buying about three years before I eventually bought at resale. But lo and behold, when the deed was recorded, I got a welcome package of some sort with ole Bernard's business card on it. He had been very nice to me. And I'm glad that he'll get my business if and when CRV opens :tilt:

I wanted to add that I have always been our done all the DVC "stuff" in our house. Requested information, filled out paperwork, sent the checks, made reservations. ALL of the DVC paperwork comes addressed to my husband. I have read other people have had the same issues. It is really annoying.

Am I the only one who has never heard from their guide after purchasing?

I finally met our guide by accident at SSR when we went to look around. I am not even sure he knew who we were and we purchased two contracts from him. 300 & 100 points. I have talked to him and he does return calls, but that has only been when we have puchased. I haven't had a need to talk to him otherwise.

My initial guide left that we had from 1991 til 2003........we now have another guide who we really would like to change from...........he is just too pushy and a numbers guy. He also does not like the fact that some of us are quite capable of playing the numbers game very well too and he does not like to be treated the way he treats people. I hope no one has to deal with this. I complained to DVC about him but to date they have not changed my official guide. Since Karen left i will only consider resales.
