I can't figure it out...I tried booking special August rate ($104) at POR through Disney' web site, it was unavailable. The alternative provided by the site was WL at $140 --- Yes, a truly great deal, but the POR $104 rate is available on Expedia.com. I can't understand why. Anybody?

The rooms given to Expedia are separate from the ones that Disney CRO books (they give Expedia certain number of rooms).

Same for us - WL was not available thru CRO but was available on Expedia.

That's awesome for WL, I had to book WL through Expedia because Disney said it was unavailable. I also had to take a woods view, wish they had had the standard view for $140! :)

I was told by a CM that Disney "holds" a certain number of rooms for travel agents/companies.

I tried to book the CBR for 9 nights last year. The website said it was available but the CM said it was not. I told them what I had found online. She asked me "if I get the room for you, will you book right now?" I told her absolutely. She put me on hold for about seven or eight minutes. When she came back, I had a room at the CBR. She said she asked a supervisor's permission to take one of the travel agent rooms and was given the go ahead when I told her that I would definitely book.

I'd call 407-W-DISNEY and see if they can get your room for you.

When you book through expedia can you get the dining plan?

Yep, I booked at Pop thru expedia.

Didn't understand why CRO and on the disney website showed it as booked.
So I went ahead and booked there.

Does anyone know if its possible to put in requests when you book thru expedia? Or am I out of luck?

Like upper floor, or refridge request over at POP.

TIA

The CM I talked to said that expedia actually buys a block of rooms, then resells them on their website. There was no availability at POP when I tried through Disney or DU.

You can fax request to Pop directly, which is what the CM told me to do since we already have a package booked and want to not to change rooms if possible since we booked a one night room only before our package begins

I saw a standard room for my dates at WL on the WDW website for $140 just a bit ago. Great rate! I immediately grabbed the phone and tried to switch from POP to WL. The CM said that only courtyard bunkbeds were available. I explained that I was looking at a Standard room right in front of me on the Disney website. She stuck to her guns and I think she thought I was making it up. :sad2:

Oh well, don't have time to spend on a CM phone fest, so I will try again when I have time.

You have to consider when booking on-line you are booking through WDTC, even a room only.
If booking a room only by calling Disney, you are booking through CRO.
We all read (and share) three digit package codes. Each one of those codes indicates a different package or room only. Each has their own criteria, types, etc.
So maybe package XYZ on the Disney web site has preferred at Pop, but the room only when calling Disney does not. Same with Expedia. It all depends on the availability that selling avenue is allowed and has remaining.
Just my two cents, from what all I have pieced together on the Dis over time. :hippie:

2 years ago when I booked 2 rooms for a 4day/4 night room only ressie over the phone with WDW (it was a spring break discount code), I realized several days later I meant to book 5 nights so I called back and tried to add an extra night and they were booked (this was ASMo) and they coudn't do anything for me. So, I get online and check their website and sure enough it took me all through until it came to the "book this offer" screen. I would have done it except it was not at the discount. So I called back and they still told me they were fulll, I explained how I got to the booking point online-the CM was the rudest man I had ever talked to- he said (and I will never forget it)" I don't care what you see on the computer, I'm telling you ASMo is full that night. You can try booking it online, but it will just be kicked right back out of our system because the resort is full". So I hung up, called again and was able to book that extra night for 2 rooms wiht no trouble at all! Didn't get the discount rate, but at this point I didn't care because I was mad!
