Looking at a Navigator for Fantasy Pirate Night, I see Pirates In the Carib., Buckets and Boards and Pirate Fireworks all that evening.

Can one do all these b/c it looks like the times are very close together at least with Pirates in Car and Buckets and Boards -- especially considering dinner has to fit somewhere.

Which Pirate 'show' has Capt Jack? Is one a Mickey Show and one the Capt Jack one?

Buckets and Boards gets great reviews and sounds great for us as DH will not do typical Musicals, so I want to work out how to do all these..?

I was thinking of doing Palo that night at 6:00 but maybe there is too much going on to miss that night?

The Captain Jack type show is the late show, just before the fireworks. The show between the dinner seatings is the Mickey & friends one.

Buckets & Boards isn't a musical show, they are individual entertainers, performing a "night club" type show.

Generally, shows are scheduled so that you can get to all of them. But not always. Sometimes you have to make a choice.

I was confused too. On the dream (after the main seating, ~7:30pm) we loved the pirate show, it was the characters and the cool bone guy (on funnel vision) and it was a great show... and then on the wonder (after the main seating, ~7:30pm) I was so turned off, it was like a rock concert, the characters showed up but they weren't on the stage much, it was just loud... I am hoping the pirate show on the Magic is more like the Dream but I don't know... if anyone knows it's more like a rock concert then I may pass or we'll watch it upstairs, it was too loud for the kids... also I love how everyone sat down on the Dream so everyone could see... on the Wonder everyone was standing

Yes, would love to know which one this was. doesn't sound like what I was expecting..

the loud pirate rock concert was on the Wonder and the fireworks were soon after the show, felt like maybe 8:45 or 9:00pm? the Dream fireworks were much later, like 11:00pm

This is the way the show is on the Magic. I agree, it's not that great. I really preferred the show between dinner seatings on the Dream. The show with Captain Jack (before the fireworks)...I wanted to like it, but it wasn't awesome. It just felt tedious. The show with Mickey in between dinner seatings on the Dream was great. Super cute and fun. I wish the one on the Magic was more like that one. I didn't really get it with the whole rock n' roll thing. It was odd.

Glad i read this. We are early risers so probably will not stay up for the late show then.

Also Buckets and Boards are great. When we some they did an " adult" show at one of the clubs. It was funny and I think they played better to a smaller audience.

I have never been on the Magic. We have cruise on the Dream and the Wonder. If I have 2nd seating will we miss the fireworks if they are at 8:45? Or are they like the Dream after the 2nd seating is over? Sorry, I just got so confused with all the back amd fourth posts.

Fireworks are not at 8:45. The show usually starts around 9:45 with the fireworks following (generally around 10:15). That's for the "regular" pirate show procedure that used to be on the Magic & Wonder. The new Pirate show/fireworks that's being done before the two dinner seatings, has the fireworks at 8:02 (pretty specific, don't you think?). You'd have plenty of time to see the fireworks and still make second seating.

So is the Disney Magic doing the "rock show", or the good pirate show with the skull guy on the screen and Jack Sparrow? I so like the one with Jack Sparrow. It was like a true pirate party. The new one is crappie loud rock concert that we avoided on the Disney Wonder.

When we were in the wonder in December they had moved the fireworks to 802 (yes they kept telling everyone the specific time like that)' between dinner settings. I guess that didn't last?

The most recent Navigator I found for the Magic (Nov 2015) has an event at 9:30 - Pirates IN the Caribbean: Challenge of Davy Jones. The description says "Join us on deck for a brand new interactive video game experience. You'll be the crew as we find out who is the better captain - Captain Jack or Captain Barbarossa."

Then there's the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party (not a show) "enjoy a rowdy buccaneer bash we call Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party."

Maybe the difference is that it's now a deck party instead of a show?

In the past the Magic and Wonder had one Pirate Show (generally around 9:00) that was a show where Captain Jack and group took over the stage from the Disney characters doing a show, then Captain Mickey would swing in and save the day, followed by the fireworks.

On the Dream and Fantasy there are 2 pirate shows - one between the dinner seatings that's a Mickey & group family friendly show, and one after the second dinner seating that's a Jack Sparrow-type show followed by the fireworks. Then there is the Pirate "After Party".

What was bad about the captain jack show? I might skip it then....

On my Fantasy cruise, Pirates IN the Caribbean (the earlier deck party) had Mickey and the gang, while Buccaneer Blast (fireworks) was primarily a Captain Jack/pirate show. Pirates IN the Caribbean was absolutely fantastic on the Fantasy, even almost three months later I still have a lot of it in my head. Away, away, away, away... The fireworks pre-show with Captain Jack isn't very good at all in my opinion, a lot of it is really painful to watch the other pirates and wenches and whatever. That one's been pretty standard on the three cruises I've done, and it doesn't get any better on repeated viewings haha. Fantasy definitely wins for the Mickey deck party, but I miss what they do on the Magic with Mickey on the funnel directly before the fireworks. Ah well!

Disney is pretty good at scheduling the entertainment around the various dinner seatings. If you're on main seating you will have the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party after dinner, then whatever is in the Theatre after that, then a bit of a break before the fireworks. If you have the late seating, there will be whatever's in the Theatre, then PITC deck party, dinner then fireworks.

Don't always rely on the Theatre entertainment being exactly the same as what you find in previous Navigators, as it can differ from cruise to cruise. I was on the Fantasy in November and Buckets and Boards performed on the 3rd night (Pirate Night was the 4th night for us). On Pirate Night they played a movie (Bridge of Spies) in lieu of any kind of show which meant plenty of time for other things as neither of us were interested in seeing it. So you could 'luck out' and have it be something that doesn't interest you whatsoever, freeing up even more time. What I would guarantee though is that there will be no big Disney production that evening, on my other cruises they had a ventriloquist (Dream) and Big Hero 6 (Magic) on Pirate Night.

I definitely recommend Palo on PN. The pirate menu in the MDRs is probably my least favourite, I see you've cruised DCL previously, if you've done PN before the menu doesn't really change much at all, on three different ships I've found them all pretty much the same! As the deck party kicks off around 7.45PM I would say the earlier the better for Palo so that it doesn't rush things or risk you missing out :)

Thanks for the great info! I wm glad ai asked. I thought the Pirate jack show was the one people liked, but seems i was wrong.

Well, it had the fireworks, so it had that going for it. Maybe it was the performance we had, but it was incredibly hard to hear what was going on, there was too much dialogue and the story just seemed really convoluted. Jack was not the best Jack I've seen so I'm sure that played into it. It just didn't feel....fun. The show between dining seatings was fun and silly, but the Jack show just wasn't holding my attention. The same energy wasn't there. But the fireworks were great, so it was worth it for that.
