confused about points...help needed

I have an August use year. If I am planning a trip right now for Dec. 08 am I borrowing points to book my trip b/c I am booking it before my 08 points come into play or am I not borrowing them b/c my trip is taking place during my 08 use year?
I am waitlisted at another resort for my Dec. trip and the CM asked me if I would give them permission to borrow points. I have plenty of points available in my 08 use year and the trip is taking place during that use year, so I didn't think I was borrowing. Please help!

Your '08 points are valid from 8/1/08 - 7/31/09 and your vacation during that time will NOT use borrowed points even if you book now prior to your use year.

Of course... if you do not have enough, you can borrow from the next year.

Thank you so much for your response. This is what I thought, but the CM has asked me if I would give them permission to "borrow" points and that those points could not be returned to their use year once I borrowed them. I knew this rule about borrowed points, but I didn't think I was borrowing.
I said that I wanted to use the points from my 08 use year, so looks like I am okay.

Do you think the "borrowing" question was tied to the waitlist (shouldn't be, from everything I have read). Were they really asking if you wanted to maintain both your original reservation and the waitlisted one, especially maybe if you are doing a day by day reservation? Just trying to puzzle out all the possibilities. Or of course, the clueless CM is also a possibility.

This would be my assupmtion also. I am currently on a waitlist for Sept for BCV. I have a reservation at AKV for the same days as the waitlist. The CM specifically asked if they should cancel the AKV one and use those points for the BCV one if it comes through. If not I may have had to borrow to do both at the same time.

Yes, I think you are right. The question must be tied to the waitlist. I do have another reservation for the same dates, but told them that I want to keep that even if the waitist comes through. I have enought points to do both, which I would think they could see in their systems, but maybe it is just a standard question.
