Confused about park tickets - Universal

I am trying to plan a trip for August going to WDW and Universal. With WDW, I can book the room and tickets as a package. With Universal, I will only need tickets for 2 or 3 days - their website says to get the $89 deal you must purchase online, but if something happens and the trip gets cancelled, I'm out $400. What other ways are there to purchase tickets? I have a fan club card, but their site asks for a card number and the card I have is just part of a pamphlet that says "Fan Club" - there's no bar code or numbers - nothing like that.

All you experts out there - please help!

If there is a possibility your trip might be cancelled, just wait and buy the 2-park/2-day tickets when you get there. However, if you go to Orlando regularly and think you might use the tickets sometime, the 5-day consecutive passes do not expire. Or you could wait and buy the 5-day passes once your plans are finalized.

As for the Fan Club, my brochure a the bottom says:
MEMBER BENEFITS
Your Discount Code:

and then there is my fan club number.

Thanks for the info. - but I've looked everywhere on my pamphlet and I don't see anything like that I'm hoping I can get in touch with Tinkerbarb for another card.

If I purchased the tickets right at Universal, is there any type of discount? I have Entertainment, AAA, Orlando Card, Fan Club.

We are visiting in the Fort Myers, FLA. area before staying at HRH.
So I called the local AAA office direct and asked about their ticket prices and found out that their prices are cheaper then our AAA up here. So If you are traveling in Florida before getting to USO call the AAA thats on your way.
