Confused about new AK hours

With the new AK attractions, will the park be open later? Or are the events a separate ticket like Halloween or Xmas Parties?
Currently it appears the park closes at 5 pm, which seems a bit early. I'm coming at the end of October, planning on spending half the day after we arrive, in AK- and then was hoping to have dinner IN THE PARK, which I've never done. We arrive on a Friday, I'm not sure if the weekday makes a difference in the new park changes.
Can someone please help me out in what they think or know will happen with park hours?

AK will have to be open after dark to accommodate Rivers of Light and the new nighttime safari. Expect the hours to be in the neighborhood of 9-10 o'clock in October.

There are quite a few others asking the same question in the Rivers of Light thread right now. Disney is not talking at all. The assumption has been technical issues with the show but no other info from Disney.

No one knows what the delay is for. There's a monster thread on the yet-to-be-announced dining events for Rivers of Light as well, that has turned into a giant therapy session while people wait for the official release of the hours, fastpass slots and dining options. I believe they've cancelled the preview parties as well.

Thanks all. So basically, we know squidilly diddilly. All good! I'll keep following along on the boards and make other plans for dinner that night just in case-
But I'm banking on staying in the park later that evening. Fingers crossed!!

Thanks....I saw that there IS a huge thread about Rivers of Light, but I didn't open it since I'm not planning to go within the next few months, or even at all this year. But it must suck for people already booked for late April or those planning for the near future.

At least a week ago, I saw on Disney's own website that the start date is April 22. Why publicize an opening date if they're not sure what they're doing yet? Don't answer......after all, it IS Disney we're talking about.

It's a bit frustrating. I'm currently holding multiple ADR's that I'll end up cancelling because we don't know show times, hours and dates for a trip less than a month away.

No, there has not. With ROL I bet there won't be.
Someone who tracks EMH better than me might know, does HS have evening EMH? Since RoL is most similar to F! It is a good way to guess what will happen with RoL. But it's all a guess thus far.

For the record, I did email DIsney today to ask what is going on with the hours. I explained that we have a May trip and am finding it quite hard to make our plans. We can see they have announced Rivers of Light will begin 4/22 but found it confusing that the park hours are still listed as closing at 6:00. I got an answer that basically confirmed what we know. Hours will change but haven't been yet to keep checking back. My thought was thanks for nothing

I'm not a super planner, I only have a few ADRs and a handful of FP+ planned for our trip, but these evening schedules are driving me nuts! Will there be Star Wars fireworks when we go? Will we get into see ROL? How late will AK be open?

Sorry this is a dumb question but I want to see the show. Since it happens after park hours, do you need to schedule EMH in advance or can you just show up? I couldn't find anywhere on the website to pick which EMH you want? I don't mind booking it with dinner but I would rather not spend the $150 for three hours.

It would be unlikely that you would need EMH. Often shows happen after the park has closed. You would only need EMH to ride any of the rides...

Dak hours will be until 9/10pm with the occasional 11pm close on some Friday/Saturdays. There will be a cast preview 12/13 and then dvc/ap previews to follow. Soft opening will start the 19th and go through the 21st, before the official grand opening.
