I have been wondering about DVC alot lately, since i went on my trip last year. Im a ture disney kid.. i will never tired of it, and i will never tire of going to disneyworld. SO i started looking into the DVC seeing if it might be good to do for me. But everything i've read just confuses me..I dont quite understand anything about it.. so if anyone can explain it to me it would greatly help.. i would like to know everything about it..

im trying to read through it.. and its still confusing me...

Just start posting some questions. They will get answered. Have you talked to a guide? taken a tour?

Im gonna be taking one when i go down in August.. but i was trying to get some info before.. cuz as much as i go down there and as much as i love disney.. it might be worth it

I see you are in Indiana, not sure where, but there is a Doorway to Dreams store in Schaumburg (Chicago) IL. That is where we toured and eventually bought at.

okay that doorway to dreams.. one thing i have NO clue what your talking about

They have a studio and 1 bedroom of BLT. You can see what those rooms look like and get a whole lot of information about DVC. They have guides there to give you a tour. It is in Woodfield Mall. If you take your kids, they have a kids club room where they go while you take the tour.

The Doorway to Dreams is a DVC sales center. They have guides (sales people) that can explain the system and answer any questions. They also have model rooms.

see thats stuff that i should know...it could come in handy..im a total novice.. to the the DVC.. and a confused one at that

I've requested the dvd several times and still havent gotten it

Jenn,

Your font size is just about killing me. :lmao: ;)

Give us an idea of what you want to know.

better? I just want to know everything .. prices.. how to start.. what exactly it is.. everything

Okay,

I'll just start.

You don't own a week. You own/buy a yearly amount of points. You receive these points - the amount you purchased - every single year. You can either use them in that year or bank them for the next year or borrow them if you are short on points.

You pay maintenance every year based on the amount of points you own. For example, I own 240 points. Some at BWV (Boardwalk) and some at SSR (Saratoga Springs). So every month above the thousands that I paid for the points in the beginning I pay just under a hundred dollars a month for maintenance.

Then I decide how I use them every year. Sometimes I might use some points to stay X number of nights in a studio - sometimes five nights in a one bedroom. Whatever I choose for my points. Two vacations. One vacation. Three vacations a year. No vacations one year (because I've chosen to bank my points or most likely I've used all my points through borrowing!!!!) All depending on how I choose to use my points - time of year and unit size tell you how many points. Studios cheapest use. Grand Villas (huge) - the most. Christmas the most points. Other times of year not as much etc. etc. etc.

If you're a planner you should buy where you want to stay (from Disney or resale). Because from 7-11 months out from when you're going it's like you have home field advantage. Using me as the example - I would have four months to get the priority at BWV and SSR. And then at seven months out from the reservation it doesn't matter where you own. Me I have only used my "home field advantage" once in five years of ownership. Most people use it though. I'm not a planner.

You can use your points outside of DVC resorts. Most say it's not a good use of your points. But it is an option and I'm sure those who do thoroughly enjoy their trips. Smiling.

So questions?

okay thank you that cleared up quite a lot actually thank you

better? I just want to know everything .. prices.. how to start.. what exactly it is.. everything

:lmao:

For prices - go here for resales - http://www.dvc-resales.com/dvclisting.cfm'

The reason to buy resale would be cheaper prices and the opportunity to buy small contracts that you simply can't through Disney (ie. 50/100 points etc).

For point charts and all the DVC resorts here - http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/DVCpoints.shtml

Press on any resort and you can see how many points it takes for a night or a week at a specific resort.

For directly from Disney - I'm not sure. They are selling BLT (contemporary) and AKV right now. BLT is over a hundred dollars per point from Disney. $115?????

You can buy all the other resorts directly from Disney as well - you just have to push them on it if they say it's not so - and it depends what they have in their stock at the time.

The reason to buy from Disney would be convenience - instant points in your account. Resale you have to wait to go through the process.

:) Disney will finance the sale...our rate was a little over 10 % for perferred credit. They also have a higher reat for folks whose credit needs a little finese. It works like a second mortgage. So we have a monthly mortgage note for 10 years and a monthly maintenance fee. You can of course pay for the whole thing up front. You can pay MF monthly or once a year lump sum in January. Resales can also be financed. It will not show up on your credit report and there is no penalty for paying it off early. We hope to have ours paid off very soon.

Last year 10/28-11/06 we used our points to stay at an AKV studio with SV. We got a second studio for my MIL and BIL. Together those accomodations would have been about $7000.00 for our 10 night trip. SInce we used our points we only "bought" tickets and the DP. DVC is a way to lock in a WDW vacation at one of thier Deluxe Resorts for a specific amount of money for the next 47 years (we own at AKV). THere are a few extra perks...but mainly it is the only way my DH and I would have been able to afford those types of rooms at Disney and we "do " Disney every year...which, like you, ain't gonna change.

You only get the room...no tickets (DVC members do get $100 off AP's)..no food. But boy, oh boy, what a room!!:cloud9:
