I had read all about how great Dole Whips are...so I had to try one last week when I went. I got one my second day and it wad DELICIOUS...it was basically pineapple flavored ice cream....looked very light like vanilla.

However on our last day we went back to get another. I thought this time I'd try the swirl---half vanilla, half pineapple. What I got seemed more like Italian ice than the ice cream I had gotten the time before. The pineapple half was dark yellow and wasnt creamy at all...and the vanilla part wasnt really creamy either.

So what did I do wrong? Do you thikn it could have been a bad batch? Or did I order the wrong thing??

Might have just been a bad day. Not sure as I always order the dole whip FLOAT!!! Pineapple flavored soft serve floating in pineapple juice...I hope they have those in Heaven...lol!!! :littleangel:

Sounds like they had just "refilled" the machine & the "mix" wasn't completely cooled/mixed.

It's reconstituted powered mix, so yeah, if the machine wasn't working well it could have been that.

From my experience with it, your second experience was more like reality, though!

Here are some Dole Whip Facts-

1. The Dole Whip "Store" (a couple of windows in the side of a building, really) is called "Aloha Isle".

2. Aloha Isle is located in Adventureland, just inside from the Hub, across the walkway from the Swiss Family Treehouse. See Map below.

3a. For years, ALOHA ISLE in MK was the ONLY place in all of WDW to get a Dole Whip.

3b. You now can ALSO get a Dole WHIP (but not the Float) at the Polynesian Resort, at 'Capt. Cook's' (counter service, on ground level near the pool).

4. "Dole Whip" is the pineapple-infused whipped (ice cream-like) soft serve treat, itself.

5. "Dole Whip Float" is pineapple juice with the Dole Whip added to the soft serve treat (floating in the juice).

6. You can order the Dole Whip alone (which is what we prefer) or you can order the "Float".

Regardless, the Aloha Isle is always listed on my WDW itinerary...
Gotta have at least one Dole Whip, per trip (are you hip?) ;)

Yum Dole Whip! I miss it already! I had mine at the Poly and it was delicious!!

I prefer the dole whip float with the orange infused icecream rather than the pineapple...it still got pineapple juice and the orange icecream just tastes better

it's not ice cream. it's also officially non-dairy by FDA guidelines.

We tried the Whip last time we were there and man that was nasty; I looked like Tom Hanks in Big trying to get the caviar out of his mouth; I was so disappointed

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a dole whip. Dole Whip floats are my favorite treat at WDW. They aren't normally grainy. They are supposed to be smooth and wonderful! You probably just got a bad one. I highly recommend you give it another chance next time you go!

I always have at least one dole whip per trip, usually more! I prefer the pineapple and vanilla soft serve mixed - it is so yummy.

:lmao: I love that movie!

Sorry you were disappointed, though! I'm not a huge fan of the Dole Whip myself. I like the float with pineapple juice and vanilla soft serve.
