Hi all!
When we go camping we normally cook over a fire but reading a lot on here it seems that the only fires are in one designated place before the movie shows.

I do see there is a charcol grill that is available for cooking. Is it pretty large, can we roast over it? Also, if we brought our own smaller campstoves is it okay to use those?

I think I understand no fire pits because of potential forest fires but I have never used a charcol grill!

I use our weber Gas grill for our outdoor cooking. i have also have used a propane griddle and a white gas camp stove at the fort. All 3 are OK to use at the fort. You do know this will Drive the neighbors nuts with the breakfast smells. You could just cook over the charcoal grill, works the same as cooking over wood but it gets little hotter. The cooking grate on the Forts grills are adjustable as to how close it is to the charcoal to control the cooking temp. If you decide to cook over the charcoal grill get yourself a hibatchi Grill and practice at home. A hibatchi grill is about $12.00.

By camp stove do you mean a propane or gas stove?

If it is that's the only way I would cook anything.

We bring our 3-burner propane stove, as well as an electric burner, crockpot, coffeepot, and electric skillet.

We'll use the charcoal grill for grilling meats, foil-wrapped veggies, and baked potatoes. We use the crockpot for chili, roast beef, etc. We use the electric skillet for breakfast (eggs, bacon, ham). The propane stove is used for anything that just has to be cooked in a pot. The electric burner is always used to keep a big pot of boiling water for washing things off and doing dishes.

Hope this helps! :)

You may definitely cook with charcoal in the grill provided. I have heard of zealous CM's making those who build actual 'fires' with wood put them out, they really don't want them blazing up high.

The above posters have some good suggestions, appliances and stoves if possible are a good thing.:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! This helps out a lot and now I have a better picture of how to get cookin' done. :)
