Confused about 5 in a room???

I know that HRH (for example) can sleep 5.

In 2003 I invited my niece along (14 years old). That made 5 of us. I called and added her over the phone. When I got there, they charged me a fee for her ($30 I think??) but no extra bed or anything for her. She used her sleeping bag.

Well, this year we're bringing my DDs 9 year old friend. I'm wondering again what the policy is. Will I be charged a fee again for adding a 3rd child? If you think I won't be, then why was I in 2003 for my 14 year old niece? If you think I will be, why? Why do they charge for a 3rd child. Another adult I can understand.

I was thinking maybe they screwed up and shouldn't have charged me for my niece. I think I should have fought it.

What's the official policy? What is your experience?

Thanks!

we're going to RPR this August and there are 5 of us....I was told they would send us a rollaway bed for an additional charge and I believe they said it would be $30. Perhaps they charged you last year for the rollaway bed but never sent it to your room?

I am debating about whether or not to actually get the rollaway...we'll only be there 1 night and the 5th person we have is only 5 years old. I'm wondering if she can just sleep with us and save the expense of the rollaway.

When I was there for my August 2003 trip we were booked as 2 adults and one child. A dear friend of mine was staying off site. The first day we went to the parks, my friend used my mom's HRH room key (my mom did not go to the parks and was in her own room) When my mom checked out and my friend could no longer use the room key, I asked at the front desk to have her added to my room in order to get her a room key for FOTL. I fully expected to pay $25 to add her to my room. I was told that there was no charge. I did not argue.

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious. I'll soon find out when I add her to my reservation! I'll let you know what they say.

I think if it fits 5 and you have 2 adults and 3 kids, there should be no additional charge unless you ask for the rollaway bed.

We have been staying as a family of 5 at both PBH and RPR for some years now. We have never been charged for the 5th person - our third child. We have always been told that the only extra charge would be if there was a third adult in the room, not a third child. We would have to pay for the rollaway if we chose to use it, but it is not mandatory for the 5th person.

We always bring an aerobed with us, as my teen prefers to sleep on it and we can deflate it during the day for more room. Housekeeping has left us extra blankets and pillows-without us requesting them-when they spotted the aerobed.

I definitely think they messed up with your 14yr old! Make sure they know you are adding a child and not another adult.

goofy! is right. You definitely shouldn't have been charged for a third child. You are allowed two adults in each room and the extra charge applies to each adult after that. Children stay free. The rollaway is an optional expense.
