Conflicting info about rates and Loews Plat??? Anyone???

I can't find the post which had info in it now.... but I have a question.

My husband and I are going to USO Apr 22-26th and for the first time got the Portofino suite upgrade as Loews Plat. We are paying 319.00 per night. After I made the reservation I called and asked if we qualify for free park tickets. At first the reservationist said no because we already got an upgrade to the suite, but asked her manager and said that we do get free park tickets. OK! Even better! Then I read a post here that said they were able to use the super savings rate with their LP upgrade (minus the free tickets - which would save us approx $150.00 - which I was looking to do) I called earlier today and I was told that we could not use the super saver rate with the upgrade.

So we are paying $319.00 per night for a Bay view Portofino Suite (plat upgrade) and free park tickets.

I wanted to pay the super saver rate of $255.00 for a Portofino suite (plat upgrade) and pay for the park tickets.

So which is it anyone know?????

I know it might sound petty but $150.00 is a lot of money to save.

Yes, supersaver is a qualifying rate that can be used with upgrades. Call again.

Well I just called back and this is what they told me. It is a qualifing rate, but not with a suite upgrade......Oh well, we do get free tickets anyway. It's just fun to see how much you can save for great accommodations as opposed to how much you have to spend. It's worth it just for the 2 bathrooms

If they are in agreeance that the rate qualifies then the upgrade to the suite is allowed as well. It makes no sense to 1/2 qualify the rate. All or nothing. If it were me I would call to speak the the Loews first manager or the MOD and explain the situation. I bet you get what you deserve however you may lose the free tickets that way too. How about AAA?

We got the suite upgrade with it.

Try again until you get someone who agrees. Some of them just aren't well informed. If it is qualifying then it should be completely qualifying as Fan2Cskr said.

You can also call the Loews First line and see what they say.

I think I will try calling LF. I called the resort reservations number two separate times, was placed on hold both times so they could speak to a manager and 2 different people came back with the same answer --NO! I don't mind paying for the tickets as it is just 2 of us, so the difference between the super saver rate and buying our own tickets comes out to $150.00 less than getting them with the stay 4 promo, which over a 4 night stay $150.00 is considerable....it's also the first leg of our trip as after USO we are going to Captiva for 6 days.

I don't belong to AAA. I do get a TA rate, but I cannot combine that rate with the Plat LF upgrade rate.

I will try again tomorrow by calling LF tomorrow.

I agree. Give it a few hours or call tomorrow so you get a different manager. I have the email confirmation that I get the King Suite with the Super Saver rate of $215 at HRH. The Super Saver rate is an advertised rate available to everyone so it does qualify for LF upgrades.

P.S. I was told there are no Bay View Portofino Suites when I first had my ressie there. I was told they are all Garden View, so double check that again when you call.

Definitely call Loews First. Here is the upgrade for platinum members right off the LoewsFirst site:

Givens:

• The Supersaver rate IS a qualifying rate.
• Your dates do not fall within the blackout dates.
• Portofino suite IS the upgrade category for a suite for Platinum members.
• There IS availability, as you already have one.

It seems that whomever you spoke to doesn't quite grasp the Loews benefits. I would call the LoewsFirst number and clarify it. They can't tell you it is a qualifying rate and then not give you the qualifying upgrade. Just doesn't make sense.

if the hotel has your loews number on your hotel ressie, it will be processed to loewsfirst and you will get the nights credited to your account.


that is how some that have booked with an ap, which is not a qualifier for the loews perks, get the nights credited with loews.

i called and that is what universal told me.
some of the employees place the loew's membership number on your ressie not realizing what they are doing.

thank goodness for inept employees who have been placing a person's loews number on the files for your ressie.
you get the loews perks then......

After 3 phone calls and a lot of being transferred around, I finially got the Super Saver rate of $255 pn with the LP upgrade to a Portofino Suite.

go here www.universalorlando.com click on resorts then on the right side of the display you will see check availability. Choose the resort and dates. When the rates come up as you scroll down you will see the different rates/packages available for your dates. If you see super saver, then that rate is avaialble for your dates.


You have to do the math and see what is the best value for you. For us, we just saved $150.00 by using the super saver rate and buying our own tickets

So far on this vacation I saved a lot of $$. It takes patience, a lot of research and some time but so far:

Air fare free - Jet Blue points
Rental car from USO to Captiva - $218 Convertible for a week - By going thru Dollar rental car located at the Holiday Inn as opposed to Hertz in the hotel for $758.
USO - $255.00 per night for a Portofino Suite LF upgrade - normally I think the suite is $449.00 per night (not sure)
Tween Waters - $243.00 per night for a new upgraded Gulf suite normally 285 per night - return guest discount.

super saver rates are not available for all the time.
just specific dates.

i have never been able to get the super saver promo in october
not one of the dates it lists in.

One other good thing I got from this thread was about the status, I was a Gold Member and didn't even know it. I called and they made the adjustment and will be sending me a new card soon!
