Confirmed - Ticket Price Increases

I am glad Disney had lots of things you can do at AKL. I see more relaxing vacations at the resorts in my future. I still have about 11 days worth of no expiration tickets in my stash. After my 2 visits in 2015, I definitely see more days at the beaches and other destinations across the world that are more significant in terms of culture. My oldest will be 10 and it's much more fun showing her places she is reading about in history than hanging at the mouse. WDW is just making things easier for me to save my money.

It's official: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-disney-tickets-100-20150222-story.html

Florida resident annual and seasonal passes will cost $529 and $329 before tax, respectively, up from $485 and $319. Renewals are discounted about 15 percent.

That was to be expected...

The article...frankly...is something that should be flushed...

"We're Finding Orlando to be more upscale" nobody can possibly believe that at face value can they?

Everyone's drunk off the stock market and real estate...again...so lets live it up.

"Median" household income is up $7K a year?!? Great...I'm moving to that country. Cause that takes into account the rising cost of everything...and medians aren't heavily thrown off by the upper end, right?

"We continue to provide new experiences"...based on who's history...exactly? The frozen singalong at MGM is the first "new" thing in 2 years if I'm not mistaken...and several things were taken away. I guess it's a better picture if you look at it while standing on your head...

This management will continue to accelerate until the road ends...I suppose.

And no...that's not "hate"...it's recognition of a longterm, unsustainable pattern...

But hey...I can't judge...I will be there soon for part of a trip. I just find myself taking more showers in my timeshares these days...and not reaching for the wallet much...
Wait...that's right...I have a band now...right.

Jeez...a 10% bump on waterparks?

I mean...you have to...really?
They have no intention of ever changing anything at either of those...

So, no, an AP holder who doesn't also purchase tickets to a hard-ticket event needs to stop riding attractions in the MK at 7 and leave tge park

I could be wrong, but I believe with the magic bands you can stay in the parks during a hard-ticketed event, you just can't experience any attractions. (I'm sure Disney will let you spend money in restaurants and gift shops during that time, no?) In the past, they gave out paper bands for those special events, and if you weren't wearing one, they would tell you to leave--not something an annual passholder likes to hear.

Wow.. 9.1% increase for Florida APs...
I spent the last 2 years taking a break with Universal and SeaWorld and thought about going back to Disney this summer. it's a tough deal to make though...

Universal Passes for family of 5 = $1300 plus tax
Disney will be $2645 plus tax...

Plus the Universal passes are for 15 months.

Grrrr....

Then you... And I...have to start voting with our wallets...

It's obvious they are intent on annual steep increases until they get blowback

Like I said, last two years have been Universal and SeaWorld... looks like that will continue this year but I do really miss the Disney atmosphere and staying onsite. It's just so hard to justify when the gap in price is so large (And Universal keeps on adding attractions each year)

That's not correct. You can stay in the parks for Extra Magic Hours (but not ride) but for hard ticket events, you have to have the separate party band they give you or you are escorted out.

I just read something interesting

Disneyland officials voted to not raise ticket prices but WDW did so Disneyland has to follow...

I can see where that could be somewhat true WDW are known for getting the most money out of people.

Whelp, they just priced me out of getting a resident AP next year. Better try to get my money's worth out of the one I have.

Helloooo, Universal!

Lol... Does anyone have a first hand account of somebody being "escorted out" of a hard ticket event?

These things tend to work themselves out..once people get turned away from rides...they disappear.

Or they can "sneak around" doing absolutely nothing...and maybe buy some food and 90% profit merchandise...
The horror ;)

There were lots of 1st hand anecdotes over on the Attractions and Strategies forum about people being escorted out of special parties.
And also a little bit of the horror that paying customers would feel if having paid $$$ they saw someone else soaking up the party atmosphere for free.

Remember the quote from Walt, at my park every day should be like 4th of July. Except some (many) of the days are 4th of July-i-er.

Escorted?

Or being informed by a bis-cas that they need to leave?

That's a big difference.

Hard ticket events have been around for a long time...and such measures were never necessary...

If they are now...perhaps they'd should look at their pricing structure?

Since ejecting both $112 dollar day guests at 7 and inconveniencing $75 dollar 5 hour patrons in Holiday garb might be the real culprit?

We have a room only trip booked in early June. If I call and add tickets to it will those prices stay unchanged by tomorrow's increase, or is it only if we buy and pay for the tickets tonight? Anyone know?

Guests with late dining reservations are typically the only ones actually escorted to the gates. Most everyone else is just directed toward the exits. People have no reason to complain about having to leave at 7pm. It's known months in advance that these parties take place and signs and CMs remind them of the closing time. I've seen a few people confront CMs over the years, but they are politely told to get out. ;)

As long as you add them tonight and make no other changes, you will get today's price.
