Confirmed MSEP to stop and move to DL Oct. 9th

This just popped up over on WDWMagic from poster AsianWay:

I just got a message that explains why the whole movement is happening. And its cringe inducing. Not sure if I believe it.

Whatever it is, sounds bad.

A foreign park and a US park can and already do have the same parade. Hong Kong and Disneyland both have paint the night. Tokyo is a different animal though. Tokyo is not owned at all by the Disney company. Tokyo pays for what they want and Dreamlights for example is something they truly love there. They continue to update it every year and it's much longer than any other night parade.

Ok, didn't realize HK and DL had the same parade.
I wonder if DL or WDW could work out a deal with Tokyo to bring Dreamlights over here to the states, since, as I mentioned before, not many people ould have a chance to experience it at TDL. Probably too cost-prohibitive nowadays for the big-wigs though.

It would have to be a very good deal for Tokyo.

I highly doubt that Tokyo would be willing to give up a hugely popular parade even if for PTN. I hope that MK gets a parade worthy of Dreamlights and updates it too but with the execs we have I doubt it. Martain did say their were plans for a new parade but it depends on the budget it is given if anything. He also mentioned these plans appear to be being accelerated.

They don't update it every year it debuted 2001, updated 2007,2011,2013,2015.

Here's the latest.

No nighttime parade at MK until at least sometime in 2017. They will have fill in nighttime entertainment in the mean time but it won't be a parade.

Wow - just wow. No FoF or anything? Ans by 2017 I assume this means mid/late 2017 and not Jan/Feb/March 2017?

I meant share it with DL or WDW, not give it up. Of course, at a price that Iger and Co. would probably be unwilling to pay.

Sorry I shouldn't have said every year I was not thinking that but typed that instead. That's what happens when you do things too fast.

FoF is really just speculation. Who knows what they are going to do. If they get a new parade it wouldn't be until late 2017. If MK gets paint the night it could be early 2017.

And I'm assuming anything regarding DreamLights is just absent-minded babble at this point correct?

This smells of something new, and less of budgetary reasons. Also seems that the decision to move MSEP was done hastily.

Keep in mind, MK hasn't gone without a nighttime parade (other than for weather related cancellations) since September 1991.

So far most of the closings etc haven't pissed me off as much as others. If there is no nighttime entertainment other than fireworks at MK for out late January/early February 2017 trip, it will mark our last on site stay at WDW for some time.

We went back and forth this year on staying on site or off site with days at Universal or Legoland. We opted for another stay at the Poly, in part, because our kids love going back to MK at night for the parade. Maybe we would have stayed over by Epcot or off site had we known.

These less than six months out major changes will make me spend my major vacation dollars elsewhere.

So they are just not having it at all anymore? Not replacing it with anything? If they are replacing it why the rush to get rid of it?

Shame .. I skipped the MSEP on my son's last two visits because I didn't want to keep him up that late. Now he may never get to experience it :(.

If this is another "cost saving" measure, ... ugh.

They may simply just be ditching the concept of a night parade. It causes major congestion (since all the roads are closed off) and they may just want to avoid that thinking that Wishes and the Fireworks are good enough night show for the crowds.

I mean . .let's admit it .. the parade followed by Wishes .. followed by Fireworks made the hub/main street area of the park congested making it hard to even just get OUT of the park (unless they open that secret side exit).

Last I heard is Disneyland is the one that wanted MSEP.

I don't know about any of the posters at WDWMagic (except those that are sometimes mentioned here). Does anyone know if AsianWay is someone who'd have access to inside info? Or is he (she?) just blowing some smoke?

We'll see Disneyland's reaction to MSEP. They might remember that parade with nostalgia, but it clearly doesn't look like it used to back in the day, and it clearly is not Paint the Night. Perhaps Disney is waiting to see the reception this gets before making a decision about PTN's future.

It will be fixed up a bit.

To be perfectly honest here, (and preparing to duck... :)) I guess I wouldn't mind if there was no nighttime parade. I would like there to be something to entertain everyone, but for us, since we don't have small children, it's always been a challenge to be on the correct side of the parade route to do the things we planned. And after having seen it so many times, we have tried to avoid the major crowd areas and enjoy shorter lines on the attractions. Just a different perspective. If a new parade came, I'd probably want to see it though.
