Confirmed MSEP to stop and move to DL Oct. 9th

Here's the latest.

No nighttime parade at MK until at least sometime in 2017. They will have fill in nighttime entertainment in the mean time but it won't be a parade.
WDW management continues to remind me more and more of the kid who does really well in roller coaster tycoon and then messes it all up for fun. Would be a better story than reality

I asked specifically about a NIGHT parade. With evening fireworks, why have a night parade that runs before and after when you have an afternoon parade?
Why do they NEED a nightime parade? Well I'm not sure they NEED it. However, as has been pointed out above it's one of those traditions that a great number of people enjoy and look forward to seeing.

Being a mod of this thread has not taught you that Disney doesn't care if it's "been around for decades?"

Same question posed to you. Since when does Disney care about tradition?

That is true Disney is less caring today it seems but as a an id hope they would go to far and would just abandon the idea. I know you specifically said night parades but the same question can be asked about anything as @Travis B said.

I am just trying to paint another perspective here. We're all full of speculation about what will replace MSEP, but we need to start considering, imo, that MSEP may not be replaced with anything at all.

This would only be acceptable if they add something new. Doesn't have to be a parade, but they need another offering. Obviously they've been raising pricing and taking things away, but the things they've taken away haven't necessarily been very big (meet and greets, etc). Taking an entire parade away without giving the guests SOMETHING in return is just a slap in the face.

Anything they are building now doesn't count because they had to take stuff away to build (Camp Minnie Mickey, Streets of America, etc).

To me, in essence, they are raising their pricing and lowering the value. I may not have been a guest that regularly watched the parade on my trip, but the option was always there. And at the end of the day, isn't that what a Disney vacation was built on, a magnitude of entertainment options to choose from?

Well I'll say this much its not looking so good for at least a timely replacement at this moment

Or make night parades a special event. Like Halloween and Christmas.

Then you could, you know, close at 7pm 3-4 nights a week. And have a separate ticketed event. I'm sure a parade, unique fireworks, and some extra ride time would be worth a premium hard ticket price.

If you wanted to do this you would:
A) Run some tests (check)
B) Reset expectations (In Process)
C) Announce the new event after sufficient re-baselines (???)

But you know this is highly unlikely since Disney has NEVER done this before (cough... P&P Parties... cough), certainly hasn't run tests to see what people will pay for (cough... After Hours... cough), and definitely isn't looking to use existing services and properties to increase their income (definitely not).

I have no inside information, but I am following the breadcrumbs. It would not shock and/or surprise me if night time parades became seasonal for only hard ticket events. The only thing left to accomplish this is come up with some type of event for the 8 months they don't have one... and.. they already have it. The P&P event had a night parade and a unique (and spectacular) fireworks.

Or it could all be nothing, and PTN comes in January. ;)

For selfish reasons...I'll say they need it because it shortens lines throughout the park for a couple of hours.

I was just looking at the comments on the WDW MSEP announcement on DPB, and it seems like all of DPB's replies to questions on have now been deleted.

Last night, I noticed that DPB's wording changed from initially saying that there are no plans for PtN to come to WDW at this time, to later saying only that future plans for PtN have not been determined. But, now, I don't see ANY replies. (I am looking at the mobile version on my phone, so my apologies if it's just a glitch making me unable to see DPB's replies.)

Are they already backing off the assertion that PtN isn't coming?

I thought the same thing this morning but no. The comments about WDW were made on the DL section of the DPb. They never commented on the WDW post. There were two posts. One announcing it was leaving WDW on the WDW section and one announcing that it was coming and PTN was going seasonal on the DL section. It was all very confusing.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Strange that they would only reply to the comments on one post and not the other.

I also found it strange that the DL people were commenting on plans for a totally different park but what do I know?

I just want to comment on those saying "why do they need a night parade". What I would say is that it's a case of taking away more while continuing to raise prices. I am not a huge fan of MSEP, and we haven't stopped for it in a while. But it's just one more thing that causes bigger crowds elsewhere by taking it away. I really am not thinking this is a permanent removal though. I think either we get paint the night or a new parade.

@Madonna3 ... Others have already given really good reasons for why MK needs a night parade, but I'll share my reasons too.

1. It sets Disney (MK specifically) apart from other North American theme parks ... it's part of that"Disney Difference" that seems to be getting harder to find these days. I would say this is a solid NEED from the company's perspective.

2. For certain guests (those who try to - or need to - stay out of the intense afternoon sun for example), it may be the only parade they can experience during their vacation. I guess this is more of a guest satisfsction "need", which it seems aren't a huge priority anymore.

I also worry about them taking something away with no plans for an equivalent (ideally better) replacement. We've seen what that slippery slope's done to Epcot.

There are pieces to the puzzle. Announcement of MSEP comes on heels of some rumored confidence in ROL opening Sept/Oct. Makes sense to me with 2 added nighttime entertainment offerings that will be draws this fall (ROL and SWS) that timing is right to phase out MSEP as there is the Special Event parades in MK. However it doesn't make sense to continue with that strategy once the Special Event parades are gone. Thus I favor the thought of a new parade coming early 2017.

Paris factors in this, no? Did DL Paris have a night time parade? When is their anniversary celebration?

I expect an announcement of PTN going to Paris with a follow-up announcement about WDW parade offering for Spring 2017. They won't announce WDW before PTN Paris announcement. They need to build the excitement and anticipation :)

I don't know if they can have a brand new parade ready for spring. I've heard the earliest we could get a new parade is late 2017.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but that late 2017 date would require TDO to rush the build and move up the budget right?

Why have a night time parade, you say? Because they are fun!

Oh, you meant from Disney's perspective? Well, it brings everyone back to Main Street where they can spend more money in the shops and it sells lots of night time glowing-doodads.
