*Confirmed* G+ Changes to Advanced Lightning Lane

Did anyone listen to The Disney Dish? Len Testa pointed out that in the announcement of 2025 Resort rates, there was a brief statement indicating that the last day to cancel a resort reservation for a refund is changing from 5 days out to 8 days out. Len thinks this relates to G+ changes (theoretically, onsite resort guests will be able to pre-book G+ 7 days out). This may be Disney's way of preventing people from gaming the system by reserving a hotel, making advanced G+ at 7 days out, and then cancelling the hotel right after. Thoughts?
This makes a lot of sense to me......Gives them time to figure out what they want to do with DAS while working on changes to how pre booking would affect the current function of Genie+

I was kind of hoping they would put it out prior to DAS selections at the 30 day window, but Len is a smarter man than I and thats a pretty reasonable hypothesis on his part.

Sorry, DAS is not the problem, paid fast pass aka Genie+ is the problem. Abuse happens in every system. People who DAS and don’t need it as well as people who Genie+ under a room reservation that then cancel the room at last minute.

Disney keeps discounting rooms. Wonder what would happen if they gave free Genie+ to onsite guests, especially for the pricier resorts. Would seem to cost less than a 30% discount..I wonder.

The DIS is linking certian key words to information about such on their website. It's just a way to drive traffic to their in-house resources.
Sigh. Off to edit the post I guess to see if I can remove it. Edited to add: not editable.

The site is worth every penny I pay for it I guess, but it feels icky that they are using my post as advertising.

A big part of the reason for the shift from FP+ to Genie+ was to reduce the ranks of line skippers. Giving "free" Genie+ to 100K hotel guests per day is a step backward in that regard. And you're adding thousands more by giving day guests, locals and others the opportunity to buy.

People could always take their 30% savings and buy Genie if they wish. Same difference.

Everyone can pay for genie+. It’s not tied to a room reservation and you buy it day of, not in advance. Cancelling a room reservation last minute has 0 effect on genie+. Maybe it did in the old FP+ days when onsite had a 30 day advantage.

I said 30 day advantage. I know onsite could book at 60 as opposed to 30. My point was there is 0 advantage with genie+ now if someone were to book their room and cancel last minute as the poster I was responding to suggested.

With how the system is currently set up that’s correct.

The rumbling that’s being discussed is that resort guests might be able to do advance booking for G+ at 7 days out. By moving the cancellation to 8 days removes potential individuals using the loophole that was once exploited under FP+.

We just got back and the crowds were pretty low for spring break time. I was very surprised. Genie+ works a lot better when it's not crowded. I was able to stack at MK, but it just sucks because you cannot plan anything. You get the time you get or have to keep refreshing. I refreshed for hours one day trying to get later times because we were flying in that day and couldn't do anything until after 1pm. Either no one was buying Genie or the crowds were just super low. The only ILL that ever sold out was GOTG, I had to buy that right at 7am. Like the previous poster said, it doesn't really sound like they're going to change it at this point.

We got back yesterday after a 10 day stay. Rise & Mine Train were sold out for LL when we were there. We’ve been earlier in February but not this particular week before. I thought crowds were moderate, not Christmas busy but certainly not slow. Comments from CMs & TV news reports seem to indicate the next few weeks will be much busier.

Right, I understand the hypothetical future situation. I was responding to the original poster who seemed to be referencing that is occurring presently.
And if that’s the logic for changing cancellations from 5-8 days I have 0 issues.

Any new rumored changes to fast pass + today?
