CONFIRMED: DCL no longer going to Matzatlan!!!

Strange....my reservation has not changed yet?????

Did you try to go to "My Cruise Plans?" It didn't show up on the first page, but then it showed up there for me.

I logged onto my ressie to see how far out they have changed and mine still says Mazatlan. Of course I am in October so maybe they will add a totally different port by then. Another cabo day or sea day is better then an unsafe port, or at least a port Disney is not willing to risk for their guests!

We had a stop in Ensenada a couple of weeks ago. It was cleaner than I thought it would be, but if you don't want to see the giant Blow Hole (water spouting up through the rocks) then you'd better like to either shop or drink.
I'd take a day at sea, or repeat a port any day, rather than go to one of the really small towns along the coast.

Just want to clarify -- in case there is a port change for future cruisers -- Ensenada is nothing in comparison to La Paz or Manzanillo. The latter are really beautiful ports. Ensenada --not so much. I highly doubt Disney would make a stop in Ensenada.

Has anyone noticed if any of the other cruise lines are following suit? Just Curious. I see that the the Carnival Splendor has just about the same itinerary. Maybe they will be in Mazatlan by themselves, wondering where the Wonder is....

Mariner of the Seas was slotted for our cruise date in Cabo (the new one) but another Dis'er said that was one of the ones that has already pulled out....I didn't know they pulled out that quickly, I thought they were 'announcing' pulling out of LA and it would take effect in several months...so it looks like we'll be the only ship in Cabo at least for one day, but I thought I remember that Carnival was also pulling out from LA? I'm just not sure of timelines....

Just called DCL. The first Cabo day is 11:15a - 5:00p. The 2nd is 7:15a - 2:30p.

I wonder if the times will vary depending on which sailing dates we have. The schedules really seem to vary slightly from week to week.

I hope for a 5pm Cabo departure too :cheer2:

I'd like to see DCL replace the port with a new one instead of doubling Cabo, but they don't have time to find all new companies for excursions and I know that is a major moneymaker for them.

I must say that I wish the double day would be a port that we dock and not tender. It would be great to come and go easily for meals and activites since we'll be there two days.

We have never tendered before. Is is a big pain?

Well said. Too bad about the tendering. That does make a port much more difficult. I'm sure you are right, that this way they'll be able to react in time to offer enough shore excursions.

The thing about tendering is that anyone with excursions planned by DCL gets off the ship first usually. Everyone else has to wait until they are off then they can get off. (most cruiselines do it this way)

Though it is a tender why not sub Zihuatanejo / Ixtapa ? Beautiful and safe!

I wondered about Ixtapa. I would love to go there!!

I am really not happy about a double dip to Cabo.
I am at least happy that Disney did not substitute Catalina, San Diego or
Ensenada instead of the Cabo x 2.

Going to the same port 2 x's can't be as profitable as visiting 2 different ports. Most people will only book 1 shore excursion in each port.

But I do agree, La Paz, Manzanillo, Ixtapa.....maybe MR cruisers later in the year will have these options.

This is probably a good thing. A Canadian tourist was shot with an AK 47 a couple of days ago in Mazatlan when he was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle in the streets of Mazatlan.

Mexico is a dangerous place folks and violence has been reaching the tourist areas as of late...

Just called DCL. The first Cabo day is 11:15a - 5:00p. The 2nd is 7:15a - 2:30p.

Disney needs to get it's ---- together! I just got off the phone with them and they said the first Cabo days port times are 11:00 - 7:30! That's a big difference! Disney doesn't seem to know what they are doing, the agent I spoke to didn't even know about the itinerary change!

I don't know how accurate that link I posted of the ships in port is. I just realized it still includes the Carnival Splendor which caught fire and doesn't port there anymore. Looks like there are really a lot fewer ships in mexico. this has got to hurt... Still trying to find a more accurate source for ports and ship traffic! Anyone else know of any other links?

also Mariner of the Seas is no longer porting in Mexico. This was their last week...They too were included on that port sheet.

I don't think they have decided what to do yet about crusies after February. The rep today said this applies only to January and February cruises.....at least for now. They are probably taking a wait and see approach for the later ones.

I hope they change it. We would love more time in Cabo! :)

I am on the March 13th sailing and ours has been changed!
