Confirmation gift suggestions

My daughter chose the same name! She makes her confirmation in May! I haven't decided what to get her because she isn't a big jewelry wearer and she has a lot of religious items from communion. I may not get her anything religious.

As for the sponsor gift I'm torn on that too since it's her cousin so she is 18. For you since it's her grandfather maybe a nice picture framed of the both of them? You can try Things Remembered or Etsy if you wanted to do something engraved.

Nice choice! She wanted Joan of Arc! LOL omg, I almost died - it's great, she read up on her and loved what she stood for, but as for a Confirmation name, she had to re-think it glad she did. Anyways .... I'll check out etsy! Yeah, I think a sponsor gift, something small, is the way to go, since it's her sponsor plus her grandfather, it was something we both decided on. Just small, nothing too much - he's flying in from Florida for her etc.. so I just figured it was nice, like I said, for his desk at home as a remembrance.
If engraved, I have to now think of what to do lmao! I love the picture frame, hopefully get a good pic of them both! if not, we have plenty of others, as does he. I am unsure what i'd write and have engraved in it - ideas? LOL i'm so bad at this sometimes and sometimes, I'm spot on..

Love the gaining popularity of Brigid...and as a confirmation name they won't have to spend their lives respelling it for confused people! (B-R-I-G as in george - I -D as in david!)

I got the best gift of all from my parents- the deal/gift was if I made my confirmation (which in their religion was 4th grade) then they would not force me to go to church anymore- other than that people gave me cash.

I find this very funny! Around here it is 8th or 9th grade, and while my DDs dutifully went through the confirmation process, my DS flatly refused. None of my kids are Catholic at this point, although DD got married in an Episcopal church that was mostly her DHs request, she would have not required a church wedding. I would put DS in the non-believer category, and other DD leans toward Buddhism. It's odd because I am very involved in my church, but my DH is not.

If you are looking for something jewelry that's not obviously religious in nature, this is a nice option. My DDs got these for Confirmation. It's a guardian angel necklace, but the angel is on the back side. It's really pretty and nice quality.

St. Brigid is very near and dear to our family (Irish) and Brigid's cross is unique and can be found in a lot of varieties of jewelry, crosses, etc.

Another unique idea for op's dd's sponsor (grandfather) if they are close is a journal that they can take turns writing in to each other and send through the mail. We've done this with my DS and his grandfather, and it makes for a *very* special memento of their relationship!

Yes, 8th grade here in NY.
My son was confirmed and doesn't follow the religion - and went to Catholic school. His gf isn't practicing - was baptized Catholic and never followed through with religion - they plan on getting married, but beach wedding I think...

I bought some beads today and some Cross charms, an Irish shamrock charm and I'm going to make some rosary beads. One for her, one for him *sponsor and gf* and her God parents. Figured she would hand them out to them. It's inexpensive and I'm having discs made on etsy with her name and the confirmation date. They are only $8.00 each.

lol, that was my gift too! Of course back then we made our confirmation in Junior year of HS. I don't think I would have gotten that gift if I made it in 8th grade like they do now.

OP, what about a nice piece of jewelry for your dd, like a cross necklace.
The money clip sounds nice, but maybe he would like something that has to do with the day like a nice picture of him with your dd in an engraved frame.

How about a piece of Belleek? (Irish porcelain/china similar to Lenox; the classic pattern is ivory with delicate shamrocks.) Something to have as a keepsake that she could display in her home as an adult.

I'm thinking a small vase is nice and you could give it to her on her confirmation day filled with fresh flowers. Or a wall cross or plate with the Irish blessing. Or a small trinket box or angel or blessed virgin figurine. And for grandpa, a Belleek photo frame or mug (or matching mugs for both of them).

Another idea is an Aran sweater (could work for grandpa too) or Aran-style throw blanket that you could have embroidered with her confirmation name and date.

We have a few pieces of Beleek, my husband is Irish and when we visit his Mom and Dad, we grab things - I love the vase idea though..
