Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

I've found some things on the 'photos an average tourist wouldn't take' thread. I'm going to try to make up a card to carry to the parks of the ideas I get there so I don't have to think about it. And if I get it all that will be fantastic but if not I'm not going to stress about it. :confused3

I think your last name (except maybe the R) shouldn't be too hard if you plan it out. Disney won't be difficult either but again will require some planning. You don't mind planning do you? :rotfl2:

I found this website where you can order framed architectural lettering pictures. I've been having fun playing around with different words so I can see what types of things they use for various letters, just to give myself some ideas. ;)

It's actually interesting because some of the things are quite a stretch on their own but together in the word your eye makes it work.

Thanks for mentioning this honest to goodness... I'm officially hooked! :thumbsup2

ETA: OOPS! The link is there now- Robbie came in while I was typing and started talking to me- I got distracted and forgot to add it. :rolleyes1

Wow...great way to get ideas for letters! Some for the 'B' I would have never thought of...the scroll flowerbed edging for example...genious! Glad I could add some more planning to your list...;)

I love having more things to plan! :rotfl:

And give me any idea and I can Google it and find you a link- I don't know how I LIVED without Google! :confused3 :lmao:

VERY neat idea! I typed in our last name and it would be $140!!!!! WOWSA! Looks like a neat idea, maybe I'll have to try it....doubt I will finish it, but I can't wait to see what you will come up with!

I know! Those prices were INSANE. :scared1: Although I clicked 'remove frame' just to see and sure enough our name was about $50 without a frame. Custom framing is always expensive and I think that's mostly what you're paying for on that site.

I realized that I'm a day off on my countdown- I should have started the last day of August instead of the first day of September if I wanted to do 25 things for a Sept. 25 arrival date- especially since the 24th is the last day I'll be able to post until we get back! :rolleyes1

To solve that little hiccup you get two countdown items today. :thumbsup2

21: Magic Kingdom!! pixiedust:

Yes, the whole thing! I have vauge and distant memories of the MK but they are disjointed- I didn't even remember riding some of the rides until I looked back at pictures and other rides I remember standing in line but not the ride! :confused3

I am so excited to experience the MK again- this time I'll know to take the time to appreciate all of the little details that make it special- the sights, sounds and even the smells. In addition to all of the magic in the MK it also has most of the rides we're most looking forward to- some of which will appear later on the list. :goodvibes

Just to be sure we soak in as much as possible we'll be at the MK THREE times, we're spending more time there than any other park- and more than DHS and AK combined! :dance3:

And I thought I'd go ahead and stick with the theme for my 2nd countdown item of the day and include another park...

21: World Showcase!!!

Again, yes, the whole thing (except America- I live in America I don't need to see the Disney version. ) And I know that it's not a whole park in and of itself but I tend to think of FW and WS seperately- they're so different from each other!

I am a girl with wanderlust. I love to travel, visit new places, experience new cultures and just have an adventure. And my favorite vacation destination is a foreign country. :goodvibes I know WS will not be the same as actually visiting all of these places but from everything I've read it captures the mood and feel of each country pretty well. We'll see... I've been to Germany, France and the UK so I'll be able to compare. :rotfl: The Platz in Germany is actually modeled after a place I've been to a few times so I'm really excited to see it. (I LOVE Germany- so much that at first I wasn't going to go in at WS because I thought it would make me miss it too much- but I've decided I can't resist!)

Kya is excited as well. Recently she's fallen in love with the idea of Paris- she wants to learn French and really wants to visit someday but will settle for the pavillion in WS for now. She's already planning to buy an Eiffel tower figurine at WDW. :cloud9:

It is a BEAUTIFUL day here and I took full advantage of it! I spent some quality time with my camera and decided to try the alphabet photography. I really want to train my eye to see the letters more easily before my trip and I decided I'd spent enough time looking at OTHER people's take on this project :surfweb: and it was time to try it for myself.

So I ventured out on this gorgeous day to see what I could find. These are all shot in my yard so the variety was limited but I think I got some that are fun. I did quickly realize that there are two challenges in this project... 1) being able to crop, rotate, etc. in my mind so I could see the letters and 3) making the pictures visually interesting while still showcasing the letter. I love a challenge though and this one is F-U-N! :thumbsup2

I got the kids and my initials. I looked for Robbie's as well but didn't find an R that I really liked so I decided to just save it for another day.

And my favorite, an E...

I made them black and white because it seems to draw the eye to the lines of the letter more and it will create a more uniform look when they're put together to make words.

This is so much fun! Thank you again honest_to_goodness fo suggesting it! :goodvibes

Very cool!
My DH's last name (and my kids' last name) has 13 letters! :lmao:

Amanda

Thanks! Thirteen letters would be a challenge! :rotfl: I haven't decided yet if I want our last name, the word Disney or something else... maybe explore? I guess I'll just see which ones I get the most interesting shots of.

photobucket is doing wierd things... i've resized the pics so you can see them without scrolling and it isn't showing up that way. :confused3 It also froze up and I had to force a restart on my computer. :headache: I soooo wish we could upload pics directly to the dis. I understand why we can't but sometimes- like today- photobucket is such a pain.

Wow Hope! Those are just like the examples of the letters shown on the website! LOVE the 'S", so clever...it is like a treasure/scavenger hunt.

I was looking for an 'R' as well, and discovered it is easier to find a lower case 'r'. We have some patio furniture that has a swirl on the frame of the back that would make a nice 'r'. I was looking around the yard, thinking "Hmmm...oh...ahhh...mm hmm", I am seeing things in a completely different light! :rotfl: Glad you are having so much fun with it.:goodvibes

At Disney, you could use letters from attractions, I think I mentioned that in a previous post...could be easier than the architectural letters...and would maybe be more immediately recognizable as being from your Disney trip...

Making Ears will be such a cute experience for Kya! Epcot made my list and I will tell you that one more park is going to make my list. :rolleyes2

:lovestruc: Love the letter project!

Photobucket is being such a pain lately.

It IS like a treasure hunt- so fun! I didn't take my camera when Kya and I went for a walk this evening but we were still looking for letters. Good idea about the lowercase R. I'll have to remember that. I may do something with letters from attractions for Disney, that is a good idea as well. I bet the kids would like that for their journals. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see what other park makes your list. :goodvibes

The next item on the countdown is another of Jace's...

19: Jedi Training Academy :darth:

Jace is SO excited about this and I'm excited for him! :goodvibes We've watched a few videos on youtube of the experience and it just looks like so much fun!

The JTA is also one of the many, many, MANY reasons I'm so thankful for the DIS. :worship: If I hadn't known about this in advance and known to get in line right at rope drop we would have walked by and seen this and either wouldn't have been able to do it or we would have waited in line for a very long time. But since I've done my homework we know to run straight to this line so he can be in the first show of the day.

And can I just take a moment to say...

LESS THAN 20 DAYS!!

:dance3::cheer2::dance3::cheer2::dance3::cheer2::dance3::cheer2::dance3:

We are getting so close and so excited!! We've been looking at pictures on the photoagraphy board and Flickr, watching videos on youtube and just counting down the days. Yesterday while we were in the car Jace just started talking about all the things he was excited about doing and seeing.

I'm excited to hear about your experience with JTA! Nathaniel was too shy to try it this time but maybe in the future he'll do it.

We are now in the TEENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am prepping for a yard sale we will have Next Sat. At some point today I have to get some work done, but getting stuff for the yard sale was more fun! Now I'm headed upstairs to our spare room, which is where my mom will stay when she comes to house/pet sit. I want to put clean sheets on the bed, make it and get the suitcases out on it so I can start packing!!!!!!!!
