Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

Hi Hope~ A lurker chiming in about pictures...have you seen those pictures that spell out a word with architectural elements? It was featured on Oprah, I believe...I did not see it but my Mom did...

You take pictures say of a railing of a fence to make a letter, and collect photos that spell something. I saw an example at Michael's and they spelled the last name SMITH. The 'S' was a latch on a shutter, the 'M' was the top of an iron fence railing, the 'I' was a sunset over water with the sun being the dot, and the 'shimmer' on the water making up the vertical line for the i, and so on.

WELL...you could pick a word (say...FAMILY...or MEMORIES...whatever...) or your last name and use all images from your Disney trip. They have beautiful archicture on the buildings and fences and such. And you would have a great souvenier to hang on your wall. You could mount the letters individually in small frames and hang them in a line...I think I will try this when we go to Disneyland in December...just an idea I thought I would pass on since you like/love photography...Have a great trip!

THIS IS BRILLIANT!!!!! :worship:

*runs off planning MY pictures...that I'll take a YEAR from now!* :rotfl2:

I am excited about seeing your pictures! It will make for a great TR! I'm even more excited knowing that you are setting aside time to take pictures. There are so many beautiful things at WDW!

I hope the picture time works out! Sometimes Kya doesn't want me to do things without her and she may not want me to stay in the park while she goes back to the resort. I'm gonna try though!

We are getting SOOOOOOOOOO close!!!!

:lovestruc Love that pictures are on your countdown!! I hope I am able to take a ton too.

Are you going to do a TR? :rolleyes1

Today's countdown item is one of Kya's... talking with them about what they're looking forward to has gotten us so excited about the trip! It gets them excited to think about the trip and seeing them excited makes me so happy!

22. Making ears at World of Memories! :earsgirl:

Ever since Savannah came home from her last trip with ears she made herself Kya has wanted to do this, even before we were planning a trip. :cutie: It is the one thing that she has consistently talked about throughout the trip planning. I know there's a place on MS to do this as well but there are reports that at times they only have specialty ears instead of design your own. :confused3 It just seems like a good DTD activity anway and we'll be able to do it the first night so she'll have them to wear all week. :goodvibes (We won't have much time in MK the first night due to a party.)

You're going to see a couple more souvenirs that the kids really want on this list. It's so funny because Robbie and I are just not souvenir people but our kids love 'em. They've both been saving up for a long time (Kya especially) so they'd have money. We'll also give them a small amount as will my mom and my aunt sent them money this week. I love that they'll have their own money to decide what to do with- it just makes it easier because when its gone, its gone and we aren't the bad guy for saying no. :thumbsup2

Yay! Glad you like it! Of course, MY last name is 10 letters long with some rather challenging letters...R...B... I am not sure if I can find something that looks like that. I will probably try FAMILY or something and keep my eye out for the R and the B just in case.
We went to New York and DC in April and I wish I had known about this then. Central Park was a treasure trove of architectural 'letters'!

I haven't decided what I'm going to try to spell yet- we have a G in our last name and I think it could be tricky to find. I'm leaning toward doing 'Disney' and framing it on a wall with several other pics from the trip. :thumbsup2

Making ears sounds so cute, I can't wait to see pictures! It seems like a great activity.

I agree, that having their own spending money is always good. Nobody wants to be the bad guy on vacation!

I think she's going to have lots of fun with this- and of course I'll have fun taking pictures of her doing it! :rotfl:

Savannah really enjoyed it and loves her ears, but it was on MS right after fireworks and kind of hectic. We felt rushed b/c the park was closing and we were unsure of how to go about making it! See? There are certain things I didn't research! :p

:lmao: Now you made me think I need to go do a search on how to do this... :rolleyes1

You always have such cute crafty ideas! :worship:

Amanda

Thanks! Mostly I just tweak other people's ideas- no need to reinvent the wheel but we can make it a bit smoother. :rotfl2:

I found this link that tells all about making your own ears if anyone is interested. :goodvibes

It has pics of some of the choices, explains how to do it and lists the prices.

Hope~ I guess you could also write your name with letters from the attractions' signs. They must have the whole alphabet to choose from! On the Disneyland board, occasionally someone will write out a word/saying (i.e. Happy Holidays, Summer, etc.) using letters from the attractions and we all try to guess what ride or restaurant (or whatever) each letter is from. That could turn out quite cool, as well. In fact, that may be the direction I go...I would spend less time wandering from fence to fence for close-ups!:rotfl:

I may need to look up more info on how to do this, I tried to do it for just one letter (for the blog) tonight and it was harder than I thought...I don't think I would have the time to do it in WDW unless I knew where/what letters I was taking???
