OK,

Enough!!! Today I received the nice hard bound book (Dream) from a guide I called a couple of days ago. I was only asking about current offers etc... well I get the book today and man does Disney know how to pull on your heart strings, I mean what parent with kids would not open that book and say "I WANT IT"

See I'm a former owner and have been wanting to get back into DVC for some time now, just wasn't right money wise, I mean we still go to Disney but I just had a hard time with the DVC dues portion of the whole deal. Anyway I think we were the first ones who sold BCV back when they were selling, I miss my BCV.

So flash forward, I come visit the disboards which I do once in a while and bam I'm hooked again. I get this lovely book with a the info in the mail..... my wife and I open it and we're like OMG LOOK AT AKV. The water play area looks awesome, the whole Kidani village looked awesome, I mean we were really impressed, we just looked at each other and said, "Let's do it" this is crazy, no offense but we stayed at Pop last trip (let me just say it wasn't DVC).

Bottom line, they hooked me, I'm definately buying back in, problem is we want both AKV and Saratoga Springs, so we have some decisions to make.

I tell ya they spent some money on that "Dream" book for marketing but it worked!!!!!!!!

Have great weekend

Congrats on your decision to buy -- choosing the place should be the easy part b/c you can't go wrong!!

We bought our main points at SSR (165) and then added on 65 pts at AKV...it makes it a little harder when trying to combine all the points but gives you the flexibility to have 11 mo adv at more than one place, esp when you bank/borrow to have that extra special vacation every 2-3 yrs!

Get the best of both worlds!

I would buy at one first
and save the add ons for later as you will do this either way :lmao:

We keep looking and thinking, looking and thinking....good thing they havent sent us a book like that :rotfl2:

Personnaly if we do it were leaning to SSR, mainly because it offers a more adult atmosphere for when were no longer toting kids around and can enjoy those ammenities but the pull of AKV is strong!

Been a member since 93. I wonder how I might get one of those books?:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 Any ideas?

We just got one of the new dream books. Called our guide and asked to send us one. Only problem we opened the book and added on another 100 points a week later:thumbsup2

Glad to see you are back in the fold, and hope to way "welcome home, again" to you real soon.

Since the dues portion of DVC was one of the reasons for selling in your first go round, SSR's dues are lower ($4.12 pp) than AKV ($4.69 pp- not sure about the "9"). Regardless, SSR is lower in MF and I assume it will stay that way unless something major changes. This might help with your decision.

Also, remember that both places are large in capacity so you may be able to book at either at the 7 mo. mark a little easier than the smaller resorts (when AKV is finished, of course).

Good luck with your decision. . .you can't make a poor one!

We just bought at SSR ourselves and let me tell you, that book is now sitting on our coffee table-It's too nice to put away!:lmao:

If you decide to buy SSR, definitely take a look at the resales. There seem to be quite a few of them and some of them might be a darn good deal.

Hope to Welcome you back Home soon. Good luck.

I used to have my book on the coffee table -- everyone who visited wanted "free" points at DVC.

Book is safely tucked away on bookshelf now.

Mule

...we got the book for SSR - fortunately for my DH, I have MUCHO will-power!:rolleyes1 (...don't know if I can say the SAME thing about AKV....)

LOL, They gave us that book on our last trip to WDW. We took the tour on Christmas Day. Used those great DVC fastpasses on Christmas Day, SCORE!!

Anyway, we have a pending contract on a resale.. ;-)

Can't wait!!

I took the book to work to share the other day... they just didn't "get" it.

SSR & AKV have such a vastly different motif that you want to try to avoid getting a place that may get tireing. Buying site unseen often works out well, but if you are vasilating between such huge differences, go with your heart. The diference in the MF is real but not huge & unless you purchase a large number of points probably is not a big deal. The decision to buy should be an intellegent one , the location should be where you want to stay.

on a 160 point contract, MF at SSR would be $659. at AKV they would be $739. That is based on 2007 MF. $4.12 for SSR. $4.62 for AKV.

Congrats! :)

I was just telling DH today at lunch, "I'm living the high life in my own eyes because I own at DVC." I am thrilled to be able to own a "piece of Disney". To read that someone left and is returning is nice to hear. Good luck with your decision!

Everyone,

Sorry I couldn't post, we have been on the road (Vacay), anyway we decided it's going to be AKV, I just can't pass on the water area and concierge level.

We will still go to SSR, I think we are going to get enough points to do both.

But those of you who got the marketing book from DVC know what I mean.

Thanks for all the replies

Later RayJay
