Well, aside from the obvious Disney trips (we are holding off on our next big vacation for another 2 years, as we are buying a house), we eat out a bit too often (DH and I are band directors and there are some times during the year that are sure killer),

Can't you just take your band kids to magic music days?

Oh Boy....Well we eat out A LOT...whether it is take out pizza and subs or sitting down at a local restaurant spending around $75 (we can't so without appys or dessert! OUCH!) and I also have been told I can't go into a store and not buy SOMETHING. It is true. I even have to spend SOMETHING at work daily (Im a manager at BJ's Wholesale). DH says just because it is CHEAP and on SALE doesn't mean we need it. Boy I wish I had his will power. I really didn't need 2 big fruit platters because we marked them down from $10.99 to $3.99 yesterday. BUT I gave the kids fruit and cereal for breakfast today and the other platter is being frozen into baggies for smoothies this summer. YUMM

I will say though, I paid off ALL credit cards this week (over $4000) and now will be plugging away at savings since we are looking at houses and hope to move by the fall.

(Scholastic book orders make me tingle)

I used to LOVE the Scholastic book orders when I was a kid. I'd get all excited to get the little form and pick out the books I wanted. I also discovered one of my very favorite books when something I ordered from Scholastic was on back order so they sent me a free "you might like this also" book as a consolation. It's called "As the Waltz Was Ending" and is the true story of a young girl growing up in Vienna, who is training to be a ballerina when WWII starts. I think it's out of print now, but if you can find it at your library it's an excellent young adult book about WWII. (I read it at 12-13, but it does have some difficult things in it - it's very true to life.)

Sorry for the OT book-nerd rant! I hope they still do Scholastic orders when my DD goes to school. And the book fairs, I LOVED those too. I still have some books I bought at a book fair; I know that's where they came from because they have a stamp in the front cover to show I paid for them.

Back on topic, my weakness is now clothes for my DD. I have had to cut myself off, because she has plenty of clothes in her current size (0-3 mos) and the next size up. And by the time she gets to 6-9 mos it will be cooler weather, so I need to wait until the fall clothes start coming out to buy her that size. I have bought a few clearance things in 12-18 mos for next spring/summer but I'm trying not to go overboard there. For all I know she'll grow like crazy and not even fit in it in the right season!

My vice is Diet Coke from the fountain. I go every morning to McDonald's and buy a Large Diet Coke. I use to spend much more, but I have cut myself down to one a day spending $1.77 everyday. I then force myself to drink water while at work.

I will go out of my way for a "fountain drink" they are so much better

4. We are sending our kids to a week long summer camp so DH and I can have some time to ourselves.

That's the best use of money!

I told my husband that when both of our kids can go to scouting camp in two more years (just day camp) he's going to have to take that week off.

Disney trips, obviously. Vacations in general.

Grocery store trips. I know I could save a lot more by couponing and buying cheap stuff, but it's much better for you and tastes a LOT better to buy a ton of fresh produce and fresh veggies. So we eat a ton of those, even though our grocery bill is high.

Can't you just take your band kids to magic music days?

DH and I were at WDW in March when the HS band my junior high feeds was there. All I could think was, "Thank God I am the band director OFF duty!" It would be really hard for me to take a band because I hate the idea of being at work while I am at WDW!

Having said that, hubby did go once when he was in HS and said it was a good experience. I just don't want to spoil the WDW fun!

-Going out to eat (no fast food-sit down.) Too many great restaurants so close!
-Wine (great prices at Total Wine and ABC.)
-Good cheese (love Whole Foods but try to go maybe once a month.)
-Disney pins (have not bought any in a while though-I have been trading old ones.) One good thing is I have some limited edition ones that I could sell for a lot if I want to. I have sold a $12 pin for $175 on Ebay in the past!
-Starbucks and DD every now and then.
-Travel (my BIG weakness.)
-Bathing suits (love them.)
-Going out (movies, drinks, food, entertainment.)

Artwork. We spend a ton on vacations but that is planned; the artwork is never planned.

Oh yes-me too. I love original art and framing. We go to all the art festivals/shows around here. I need a gallery

-Starbucks. Once or twice a month I get a Frapp & their oatmeal. Its yummy!!

-I'm starting a new job in the fall & we're hiring someone to come clean the house once a week. I know its going to be an expense but it will make the entire family much happier.

-I'll also be getting a new iPhone in September. Yes, its a fancy toy but its so pretty & my current phone is one step away from sending a telegraph so I think it will be awesome!

Okay, you made me think and now I know I have waaaaay to many and need to cut a couple out. This is just for me mind you - not talking DH or things for the kids:

1) Coffee and a donut every day on my way to work $4
2) 20 oz Diet Coke - one or two a day ($3.00)
3) going to the full serve gas station - about $1.50 extra per fill
4) Take out lunch at work 2 or 3 times a week instead of left overs or a frozen dinner - extra $15/wk.

and....
this is the big one....

5) I spend about $250 a month on books, maybe more. So far this month I've spent $125. I read one or two books a day. I try to buy used when I can find something I like that I haven't already read, or do an e-book when it's a new title, but I often end up buying new paperbacks because I just like them better than e-books.

My dogs are my budget buster...I always feed them Pedigree but I buy generic for my husband and I. However, I do shop and buy bulk with a coupon.

I am addicted to sweet tea but hate to make it. I spend $2.99 a gollon to buy it from Chicken Express 2-3 times a week.

My dd is also my biggest budget buster. While I save money by shopping resale shops and clearance racks for her clothes... I spend obscene amounts on her shoes - $300 a year easily.

Her borthday party every year sets me back around $350. I also am room mom each year at school for her class and spent about $300 on the 2 school parties.

DH would kill me if we knew!

My biggest thing is the cigarettes. I know, i know..here they are about 5.50 a pack..2 packs a day..you do the math..big time waste of money.

I have no problem telling my kids they can't have a toy or some sort of junk food or especially a video game or pack of trading cards....

But I have a real problem saying "no" to a request for a book. Especially one that is affordable like the Scholastic books are. As a result, my kids have their own private "library" that is growing as we speak (just drove DS8 to town to buy a new book he was DYING for) - and yes, we go to the library at least once a week! My kids simply share their Mama's love of owning books, and displaying them proudly on their book shelves....

And if they happen to be Disney books...oh, my! Double the love!!

That's not an indulgence its an investment. My kids have their old scholastic books that they now read to their kids. (Gawd, I'm old!)

I totally agree, I do not allow my kids to order the toys from the book orders, but their books are reasonable - I allow them $5 each every month to order from those....sometimes they have books for $1 you cant beat that!
