He’s rewriting history and making himself the hero of his story. It was a mercy killing. He didn’t want to, but she was in so much pain she was begging to be put out of her misery and he just loved her so much… He would’ve driven north to let one of her dads kill him but he didn’t want them to go to prison. He’s killing himself in a preserve so wild animals can tear him apart because that’ll make Gabby’s family happy. And please don’t litter, Gabby would’ve wanted it that way. Wow, what a selfless, upstanding guy, that Brian Laundrie. Always thinking of others.

He was afraid the fire would go out and she might freeze to death — so he killed her. He didn’t want to leave her alone because something terrible might have happened to her — so he killed her. He’s so full of it.
In reality, he was less than a ten-minute walk from their van across a two-inch-deep creek in an area that had such excellent cell service a reporter was able to live stream a video from that spot:
Hell, he probably could’ve just screamed for help and his voice would’ve carried far enough for someone in the campground to hear. It’s not like national parks are known for being excessively noisy in the dead of night.
