Confess-what gadget/appliance did you buy but never use?

Showtime rotisserie, never used it once in 2+ years, finally threw it away :confused3

What I had was a 4 hole device that you could put a canned biscuit or sugar cookie dough in each hole. When you lowered the lid there were prongs that smooshed the dough into a cup or shell. Then it would bake these and you could then fill with your choice of sweet or savory fillings such as ice cream, choc. mousse, or chicken pot pie mix. In all honesty it was a huge dud. I think it was made by Presto or Sunbeam in the mid 90s. One of those appliances that is around for one season only.

You THREW it away???? :faint: I LOVE mine!!!

Sandwich maker
blender (haven't used it in years)
the bread maker (it's out in the garage)

About 4 years ago, DW MeanLaureen built additions to our kitchen cabinets (the woman is a natural carpenter, they look just like the originals!) and since we had more storage space we got some of the "gadgets" that we thought looked like fun.

The Quesadilla maker - used it for a couple of weeks then the novelty wore off.

Chocolate Dipping machine - bought it intending to make Christmas presents of chocolate covered pretzels and other yummy things.. never made it out of the box.

Ice shaver to make crushed ice. Lauri craves ice like some women crave chocolate yet this is still in the box.

George Foreman grill - novelty wore off

Sandwich maker - fun the first couple of times then novelty wore off

Hot Air Popcorn Popper - still use this at least once a week

Twister ice cream machine. Now for those of you that have this and think it's a waste - try this and you may think twice. Like the taste of cake batter but afraid to eat it because of the raw egg issue or are you addicted to the cake batter icecream at Maggie Moos or Cold Stone? Put your icecream in the machine and sprinkle in some dry cake mix from a box. Ohh wow.. is that GOOD!

My parents LOVE theirs. My mom loves that my dad can cook his own meals in it. He pops in a chicken or two, throws some veggies on top and "sets it and forgets it". Their dog likes to sit and watch the chickens spin. They probably use it once every week or two. I would consider getting one, but the thing does take up a lot of space. They keep it in their pantry closet when not in use.

I bought a vegetable steamer when I got my first apartment by myself because I thought it was so "adult." I think I used it once, but I still have it.... 10 years later.

I registered for-- and received-- a food processor when I got married last March. I still haven't used it!

Obi-Wan, we have the twister too and have only used it once. It was so cool just a PITA to clean!! Any suggestions?!

Where do I start?

The Bullet--I really thought I would use this blender, but in the 4 months I've had it, my kids made milkshakes maybe twice.

Mine sits in the basement bar and I use it a lot ( maybe we drink too much ?) it come up in the kitchen once in a while. it is not as efficient as the infocommercial makes it look , but I have fun with it.

the drink that is the most popular right now is the japaneese garden ( I invented it) You put mixed frozen berries in the bullet and add some Soto liqueur( it is leechee, the fruit, alcool) and you mix ! very good !

The dreaded cookie press ! A magical gadget that presses cookie dough into attractive little BLOBS.

Blender - When I was going through my Alba low fat shakes phase

Extra large George Foreman Grill with bun warmer on top - what was I thinking?

I also succumbed to the lure of the George Foreman grill. We used it for a few months but it was just so hard to clean!

Back when breadmakers were big my brother bought me a really nice expensive one for Christmas. Unfortunately only used it a couple of times, six months later I apologetically told him he would probably use it more than me and sheepishly gave it back to him (still reminding him it was a really great and thoughtful present) and he does use it alot!!!!

Now how awful am I, I got an Ipod Nano (got all the accessories too) at Christmas and I still haven't opened it!!!! Ok, that's it, today is the day I set it up.

I am the worst for collecting useless kitchen items that I will never use. Some of them are gifts from family and friends, but some of them are my own fault. Currently clogging up the space in my storage are:

  • An electric cuisinart flat griddle that flips over to a grill pan. Used once.
  • A copper polenta pot. Used once. It takes an hour to polish!
  • A Morrocan tangine. Again, used once.
  • A spaetzle maker.
  • Approximately 30 cheese knives, and 4 cheese serving plates. I like cheese, but this is a little much.
  • A "salt dipper," for rimming margarita glasses.
  • A butter bell.
  • 12, that is right, 12, creme brulee ramekins.
  • A cake frosting set, complete with icing bag and various specialty tips. Did I mention that I don't bake?
  • 5 picnic baskets, each complete with their own plates and stemware, tablecloths, candle holders, CHEESE BOARDS (yes, these are additional cheese boards to the ones mentioned above) etc.
  • A recent gift from my Dad: a set of metal mini funnels--really really small. I have no idea what these are for, but it's the thought that counts.
  • A foodsaver. Purchased two years ago, never used.
  • Cast iron fish-shaped cornbread pans. Used twice--the bread always stuck, even though they are seasoned.
  • An electric vegetable steamer. I really don't get this one--why is it better than using your stovetop?
  • A panini press that never gets hot enough (flama brand, yuck)
  • An ice cream maker. purchased six years ago, never used.
  • A misto oil sprayer. Actually, three misto oil sprayers.
  • A canning set. I have no garden (except herbs) and there are no farms near me.
That's all I can think of, but I am sure there's more. Lots, lots more.

Bread Maker! That double pancake turner thing. Ice tea maker. Haven't touched it yet. To make matters worse, the other day I did tea and forgot that the ice tea maker was even there!

i have the huge electric roaster someone mentioned earlier. i probably would have passed it on to an unsuspecting friend but i discovered and purchased the attachment that turns it into a 3 part chafing dish-this is great for holidays. if nothing else i cook up the stuff that ends up getting put in bowls at the last minute and use this to keep it warm-i actualy manage to get everything on the table at the same time.

went and took a peak into my appliance closet to see what else is lurking there-

electric fry pan-mom insisted it was a "must"-think i've used it 2 or 3 times/15 years
electric nacho bar-a small disc that heats up and holds bowl of nacho cheese sauce with space around it for chips (wedding gift-used a couple of times)

You guys are reminding me of stuff I have stored away that I really don't use. Out of sight, out of mind I guess.

cookie press, used once
fill n bake pan, used once
pancake flipper pan, thingy, haven't used in 2 years
angel food cake tube pan, used once
tart pan, never used
2 mini muffin pans, used very few times
tart shaper for the mini muffin pan (pampered chef), used once
2 in 1 food processor/blender, used each once (like my big food processor better)
deep fryer, used once, loved my old fry baby, but it was ancient and died, I'd love a fry daddy. I don't fry often, but loved it for when I did.

I'm sure there are plenty more that I'll think of as other people mention them!

I wouldn't have thought of half the ones posted here. The ONLY one I could think of was the dehydrator. After reading the responses though, we have MANY more.

dehydrator
electric griddle (it's too big and bulky to want to clean)
waffle maker
cotton candy machine (though not technically for the kitchen)
huge pizza pans (2 of them and neither used 1 time)
deep fryer (I just can't get into fried foods)
crock pot (use, but not often)
electric can opener (we just use a hand one because it's easier all the way around)
I have a set of glass bowls that are just too heavy for me to bother with
I also bought another covered glass bowl to take as a side dish when we need to go out and it's never been out of the box.
Corning Ware, it's been packaged away in storage for about 7 years or so
pie pans (I've never once made a pie LOL)

I'm sure I could go on, but I think we all have MANY things we've wasted money on. LOL
