Condos on lakes you can fish in?

We're going Christmas, and my son-in-law really isn't that into going to parks. He'll go part of the time, but he would like to do some fishing while we're there. My parents have offered us their house in Winter Haven (which is on a lake), but I really don't want to have to drive back and forth since everything we'll be doing is in Orlando (although free is nice ;)).

Has anybody stayed in any of the condos that are on lakes you can fish in? He's not looking for anything fancy - just a dock to fish off would be fine. I know there are some in the Lake Buena Vista area but can't recall any names. Anybody know of any others in the Orlando area?

Bryan's Spanish Cove is an older timeshare on Lake Bryan off 535 near 536 and very close to the parks. I think they have fishing gear for rent. They have many pictures of fish caught from their dock. They may even have boats for rent. Remember that there are alligators in many inland lakes in central Florida.

I've heard that Disney stocked the pond in Celebration when they first started developing the resort and now the fish are huge. I've seen people fishing from shore. One person I talked with said she looks forward to fishing there every trip and always catches something. Some of the bass are very big. I think it is catch and release and I have never seen a gator in it.

Make sure to check on Florida's fishing license requirements first.

Have fun!

The Fountains has fishing - I dunno if it's good fishing or what you can catch, but they've got a dock and canoes and whatnot. It's on International Drive between Sea World and the Sheraton Vistana, on Lake Eve.

I've seen Bryan's Spanish Cove several times and wondered about it. I like that it's small. I will definitely check on that.

We've spent lots and lots of time in Central Florida (my parents have been retired there for close to 20 years and have even had them come up their street ), but I had definitely better remind my son-in-law about that. He's not used to running into alligators! :rotfl2:

I already checked on the out of state license, and he can get a 3 day or a 7 day for very little (much more cheaply than I expected), and he can get it over the internet before we leave.

Celebration sounds good too! :thumbsup2

I'm familair with The Fountains. I'll check on it too. :)

We rented a villa in Crescent Lakes and I believe you can fish there.

Thanks! I'll check that too. :)
