Condition of SSR Rooms

We've stayed at SSR 5 times now, and have never had any issues, except our card reader went haywire one night as well, but they came to fix it promptly as we had a sleeping babe in our arms, and couldn't get in! This has happened at other Disney resorts, as well as other hotels - no big deal, as that is how computers behave.

We always comment on how well SSR is staying together - we've stayed in 3 out of the 5 sections as well. Furniture and decor always look good - we honestly haven't seen that much wear and tear. Unlike other DVC resorts that have had mold, scratches, broken furniture, broken drapes, etc. We report any major issues, and discuss wear and tear issues with either manager or MS.

I will second everyone else's encouragement that Maintenance or Housekeeping must be called to report any, and all issues. It helps us all...:thumbsup2

I found at SSR every drawer seemed to be off track. I don't know if it is poorly made furniture or what. The condition of the room was very good, no real excessive wear. We always completely unpack and use the drawers to put our clothes in and it was an adventure getting drawers to open and close properly, all of them.

We also had one drawer off track in the bedroom armoire. DH fixed that too.

FWIW, our carpet was also worn in the most-traveled areas. But again, wear and tear....

Just want to comment on this issue of "refurbishments." There are many different levels of refurbishments. Old Key West and the BoardWalk have received the most comprehensive refurbs where rooms are effectively gutted down to the drywall. But those are few and far between. The BoardWalk is 15 years old and this is the first time it's had such a substantial update.

Minor refurbs are conducted regularly at ALL resorts. On an as-needed basis, they will update carpet, wallcoverings, paint, furniture and so on.

SSR is many years away from getting any sort of OKW or BWV-type refurb. Some of the rooms are as little as 3 years old. But that sort of refurbishment is not necessary to address paint touch-ups or worn carpeting. Report such things to maintenance so that they can get it scheduled.

Scratches on furniture are a little different. Our dues pay for replacement furniture so Disney has to be somewhat responsible about deciding when to update.

When our card reader went we also had a sleeping baby in our arms! I wonder if those computers can sense when to break down at the worst times?

Like everyone else said... the only way to get things fixed is to let someone know.

We have have stayed at SSR 3 times recently and I found the 2 br villas to be clean and really fresh and up to date. The housekeeping staff does a very nice job at SSR, better than at OKW. The only SSR issue for me is not to end up in the Carousel area.

And hopefully, when they finish the paddocks pool area and new quick service dining, Carrousel might end up being a great location! Unfortunately, I am seeing more and more of a trend that SSR might not be the hated resort much longer. When THV's opened up a lot of the anti-SSR sentiment fell off and now with two theme'd pools (not counting grandstand being mini theme'd) two quick service locations....who knows!

Saratoga Springs is a beautiful country club resort and spa. I have found it to be very well kept and clean inside and outside.
