Condition of Room at check-in question

We've just returned from a night at BWV prior to our cruise on the Magic. This being only the second time staying at DVC since joining and the first time using the pull-out couch, I have a question about what to expect from mousekeeping at check-in. We were in room 3065, a studio. Being a party of four we needed to use the pull-out couch. When we were about to retire for the night and I pulled out the couch, the sheets on it were obviously not freshly made, totally wrinkled as though they were used by the past guest and then just folded up the following morning. My question is: Was it the job of mousekeeping to have put fresh sheets on the pull out or are members expected to do this themselves? I found fresh sheets in the closet and remade the bed myself-no big deal- but I felt the old sheets should have at least been removed prior to our arrival. Am I off base on this one? I realize daily mousekeeping is not provided, but would expect it to be clean with fresh sheets at check-in. My feeling is that we just had a poor mousekeeper. DVC members, what are your past experiences? I just want to know what I should expect in the future. Thanks for letting me know!

Of course, HK should change the sheets on the sofa bed! This should be done even if the previous guest didn't use the bed. It's possible they did a messy job of making the bed and that's why it looked used but, if there were any question, I would call the front desk/housekeeping and tell them the bed was skipped and needed to be made up.

Many of the hotels I have stayed in (and that includes many very nice ones) expect you to make up the sofa bed if you are going to use it. We usually use the sofa bed out if we have used it, to make it easier to see that it needs to be stripped (or we just strip it and leave the bedding out). The bed, IMHO, should have at least been stripped. I don't think it is reasonable to keep the bed made up, though, because the sofa beds can get kind of stale if they are not being used and have sheets on them.

We've stayed at BCV, OKW, VWL, and BWV in studios and one bedrooms. Since there are 4 of us we always use the sofa bed and it has always been freshly made. This was definitely a slip up on the HK dept.

We also always use the sofa bed and it has always had clean sheets, this was definitely a slip up on HK's part.
We also strip the sofa bed on our check out day before we fold it up, I don't know why we do but it is something we have just always done.

One explanation )(not an excuse) is that the prior family could have folded up the sofa before leaving and mousekeeping assumed it was clean.

All bedding, for beds and pull-outs, is supposed to be changed between check-out of one guest and check-in of another. Maids sometimes screw up. When you have an issue like that just call housekeeping and they will send someone to make the change.
