We recently stayed in a studio room at BWI. We have been DVC members since 1997 and have to say that this room was probably in the worse condition that we have experienced. It appears that at least this room as well as the condition of hallway walls and trim need some attention. Within our room were some holes in the walls, chips and exposed rust in door frames and even the shower curtain was too short to adequately protect outside of the bathtub (placed towels on the floor when using the shower). Maybe our room is not the norm, but if I was paying the rack rate ( or even some discount), I would not be happy.

BWV is right about to enter its refurb so my guess is they are doing the minimum amount they can get by with. I stayed in a GF roof in a similar beat to crap shape as you’re describing and then found out it was within a couple months of getting refurbed.

Are we talking about the INN or the DVC VILLAS? I thought the refurb was pretty much done on the INN side. I will assume that both of you are talking about the VILLAS, because there are no studios on the INN side. Not a surprise that many of the DVC villas aren't in the best shape. As mentioned, a refurb is scheduled to begin for the villas this fall.

@walt2187, you might ant to edit your title and post to replace BWI with BWV. ;) ;). :)

We had a split stay last week where we stayed in a renovated studio at BCV followed by a non-renovated studio at BWV. The two rooms were incredibly similar, but other than the murphy bed at Beach Club, we actually felt like the BWV studio was better. The lack of a ceiling fan at BCV was a downgrade and our A/C unit seemed to need to be working really hard, loudly turning on and off all the time, to keep the room cool at BCV - while the A/C unit in BWV was older but quiet and good at keeping the room cool.

Both resorts had a lot of construction going on. We were constantly being re-routed throughout our stay due to closed hallways, external painting and loud lobby construction at BCV. At BWV, the indoor restrooms off the lobby were closed and you needed to walk outside to find a public restroom if you didn't want to walk back to your hotel room. Other than the pizza window (which has been overpriced since they removed the "full pizza" ordering option and make you purchase the slices individually) - Boardwalk seems to be really lacking in light bites / walk-up dining options. The deli leaves a lot to be desired and it feels like a big downgrade after having the plethora of dining available at Beach Club (Ale & Compass, Crew's Cup, Martha's Vineyard, 2 quick-service gift shop dining spots, Hurricane Hanna's and Beaches & Cream).

We will definitely be back to Boardwalk, as the location is unbeatable, but I am hoping that the refresh over the next couple of years addresses some of these issues.

I assumed OP got the title off or it would make no sense because there are no studios in the hotel portion.

Great post and helps.

We've been going to DW since the mid-90's. My actual first trip was in the late 70's as a kid, but that's another topic.

We'd never stayed at a DVC room in our 9ish trips to DW and I booked the DVC side of BW for an October 2022 trip. We were surprised at the condition of the room as it was weathered. I suspect that, due to the proximity to Epcot, that it's a popular facility with a lot of traffic. Same goes with others, such as GF, I'm certain with the close proximity to MK. I rented points on that trip and the stay was a surprise for my wife and you can imagine my disappointment when the room was underwhelming regarding the condition. It lessened the excitement sadly.

That being said, it didn't stop us from becoming first time DVC members at the Grand Floridian on the last day of the trip. I see the potential at the Boardwalk, but the room was less than it should've been and I'm sure was on the list to refurb.
