Hello, I am a highschool soccer player and the other game I blacked out and got my second concussion of the season. This one seems worse than my first one. I have gone to the doctor and visited the athletic trainer at school. Do you guys recommend anything to help me get better or have any expiriences. (I know I shouldnt be on the computer either but I need some advice.)

Thanks !

There really isn't anything you can "do" to help it but you DO need to stop playing soccer for the year. I know in our state they have banned kids that have gotten a concussion from playing again the rest of the season. It isn't something to mess around with, quite honestly.

I am out for the season even though there are only two more games left.

Not to try to scare you but you need to understand that a concussion is a type of brain injury. The symptoms can go on for a long time if it's bad enough.
Which symptoms are bothering you the most?

Just a bad headache ive already been to the doctor and they said it was minor and I have to stay away any type of physical activity, driving, ect.. The headache is not going away though and its irritating and it hurts.

I'd go back to the doctor for a follow up. I've had 2 pretty serious concussions from horse related accidents. My 2nd one was the worst and even then the headache only lasted a day or two. I had equilibrium problems for about a week after.

It's nothing to mess around with - as the other poster said it is a brain injury.

Ok, I will for sure check with the trainer and talk to my parents about going back. Thanks for the advice :)

You need to tell your parents or whoever your "adult" is right now. And go back to the doctor for a follow up.

Your head hurts because your brain sloshed up against your skull when you were hurt. You can take some Tylenol, but it's probalby not going to help a lot. Headaches are pretty major following a concussion. Put an ice pack on your head and go lay down. Not much else you can do. Call your doctor tomorrow for a follow-up visit. Certainly call your doctor if you have other things, like vomiting or visual disturbances going on.

My brother used to play hockey..he was the goalie. After one to many concussions the doctors advised he stop playing. It broke my brothers heart since he was a good player...he could have possibly done something with it. The last time he went down on the ice he was rushed to the hospital. That was the end of his hockey career...over at 17. He will play now, but only with friends that he trusts. Go to the doctor...make sure to keep the adults in your life informed of any changes that you may experience. Its not something to play with. Good luck...take care of you...

Concussions have been in the news a lot lately. I would strongly suggest that your parents take you to a neurologist who specializes in concussion. Some of the latest research suggests that it's vital to get quick care for concussion, which can include no school, no reading, no TV watching, no video games -- as little stimulation and thinking as possible for a certain amount of time. Sounds dull as anything can possibly be! But severe concussion can cause problems for many many years.
