So -- I just booked a one bedroom suite on the Fantasy for April 2015. Only late dinner seating is available, and I really, really want main dining. I am on the waitlist. How good are the chances that I'll get main dining?

One reason for my request: Last time we cruised on the Fantasy we were also in a one bedroom, and one of my concierge requests on my paid-in-full-date was to have one of the round tables in Enchanted Garden. My kids love those tables. If I have late dining still, as of that date, I don't know how they'd be able to fulfill this request.

Will being in concierge help my chances for getting earlier dining - can concierge services pull any strings?

They will do it for you. Concierge will get you on any MDR sitting you want.

PS I didn't like the round centre tables in Enchanted Garden.

I agree with you on that, that's for sure! :)

OP if you have only seen them and haven't sat at them, they are relatively small when you actually sit down, and it's REALLY easy to fall when getting out of the seating area. Big step down that is easy to forget about. By the time the 3 of us had food on the table, there was no room to move.

Much prettier to look at than to sit at. We don't do even that anymore, though, because the vegetarian food choices there are just so awful in our opinions. So we won't be going there.

We actually sat in them last time we sailed, and my kids thought they were so cool. They're little - will be 4 and 6 on our next cruise - so they don't take up much space at the table.

Funny. We were on the Dream last year and had that seating. I didn't realize they were so in demand. They were fun but not my favorite spot.

Back on track: Don't worry. Your Concierge team will extremely accommodating. I doubt it will be a problem. Just go to the Concierge Meet & Great when you get on and they will take good care of you.

Yes I would never ask for those tables again to tight with four in the family hard to get in and out without moving the table or knocking something and on the main walkway so little privacy.

On topic Concierge will always full fill MDR requests no worry.

Also keep in mind you can dine in room from MDR in the Cat Ts as a backup plan. I would imagine they could set you up for early dinning.

IMHO it's best to go to the MDRs it's served hot and you have the atmosphere in there and the shows like Animators.

Just email or call shoreside concierge now and have them change it and put in your request for the round table with them. I wouldn't wait until you board.

Great minds think alike DISNEY FANTASY. I agree I do prefer going MDR too. I also think the late dining has it's advantages over early dining. For example it easier for young kids to take in the show earlier. I can bet a lot of kids pass out in the late shows.

Update - shoreside concierge just made the switch for me even though the cruise is months away. I'm so excited - great start to this trip!

Thanks I agree on MDRs but sorry disagree on children below teens going to late dinner, it's a car crash.

That totally depends on the kids. My family has been doing late dining since my DS was 7 and we love it. DS never had issues with the time and loved using the Dine and Play to go to the clubs (and we liked not having to leave dinner to take him ;) ) We did the show and then dinner together and then off he went to play at the club while we finished the meal. Win-win for all of us :)

Now if he was 3, that might have been a different story. But I've seen plenty of pre-teens and younger that did fine with the later dining time. Since we prefer that time, we make sure to always book second seating to leave that coveted Main Dining time for those with really young kids that might need it :thumbsup2

Any decision is up to the family but to me I have seen to many meltdowns, to many kids asleep too many kids hitting fast food on deck nine as dinner is too late, and eating late is bad for everyone, if it doesn't go down before bedtime you may get stomach upsets and acid reflux. Kids eating more than normal and drinking soda more than normal then eating late evening its the perfect combination for sickness over night.

Again it is up to each person but from what i have seen on 12 cruises with DCL my advice will always be kids under teens must be on main or do not book the cruise.

LOL - Wow. Well thank goodness I didn't take your advice. I would have hated for my DS to miss out on his 6 (soon to be 7) wonderful DCL cruises because you think think he can't handle late seating. And in my 8 DCL cruises, while I have seen an occasional child fall asleep at the table, I have never seen any more meltdowns during dinner than I have witnessed around the pool during the day or in the theaters. Maybe we should just say that kids younger than teens shouldn't go on a cruise at all???

And, by the way, how is it that you know all those kids at second seating are getting upset stomachs and acid reflux every night?? :confused3 And who is to say that those 7-12 year olds aren't hitting up those fast food places after early dinner because I'm pretty sure most of them aren't going to bed at 8:00 pm. You know, because in all of my 8 cruises, I have seen way too many kids (younger than teens) running around the ship, getting pizza, getting soda, etc well after their Early Seating dinner has finished. ;)

LOL - I'm just giving you grief because I don't agree with you. Now if we were talking about the 0-5 age group, then yeah, I think Main Dining is a better choice. But there is a big range between that and teens and I do think a lot of those older (but not teen yet) kids are perfectly fine with Second Seating.

And you are right - that is a decision for that family to make. I just hope those that need Main Dining are able to get it. Because if everyone that had kids younger than teens were to select Main Dining or not cruise, there would be a lot of people not able to cruise (because we all know Main Dining fills up quickly). I feel much better knowing that my family is not taking up a table in Main Dining for my "younger than teen son" and instead, a family that really needs it gets to have that spot instead.

Thats a bit of a big overreaction there, its a disney cruise, I didn't say anything like that. Thats way way way out of any reasonable context.

And, by the way, how is it that you know all those kids at second seating are getting upset stomachs and acid reflux every night?? :confused3

Let me quote again what I said there as you have taken that way out of context.
if it doesn't go down before bedtime you may get stomach upsets and acid reflux

And may get ill.

So after 'giving me grief' you are then generally agreeing with me? I said 0>12 pre teens. My age range is slightly more than yours.

But there is a big range between that and teens and I do think a lot of those older (but not teen yet) kids are perfectly fine with Second Seating.

And you are right - that is a decision for that family to make.

Yes I was very very clear on that.

And you just answered it there,
because we all know Main Dining fills up quickly
Because the majority know what is the best time to eat. In fact most dietitians say eat a reasonable size breakfast, less at lunch and far less at dinner, we eat the wrong way around.

Thats a bit of a big overreaction there, its a disney cruise, I didn't say anything like that. Thats way way way out of any reasonable context.

No more of an over-reaction then telling people with kids younger than teens to not cruise if they can't have Main Dining.

And may get ill.

But people "may" miss their flight on the way to the cruise. Or they "may" catch the flu from other passengers. There are plenty of things that "may" happen but if the family members have none of those food issues previously, then why would you assume that it will happen on the cruise? I know my children's eating habits and there have been many times that we have had to eat dinner late, etc. It doesn't bother them. So I have no reason to avoid the cruise if Main Dining isn't available because it "may" happen.

So after 'giving me grief' you are then generally agreeing with me? I said 0>12 pre teens. My age range is slightly more than yours.

Nope, only agreeing about the under 5 set. And that has more to do with the extra hours of sleep that they require and that they are more likely to go to bed much earlier than older (not yet teen) kids.

As for giving you grief, I was trying to keep the post light and let you know it wasn't a personal attack. It was meant as a joke. I just don't agree with you but want to disagree on what is being posted, not who is posting it.

And you just answered it there, Because the majority know what is the best time to eat. In fact most dietitians say eat a reasonable size breakfast, less at lunch and far less at dinner, we eat the wrong way around.

Nope, I think most book that time because they have younger kids and do want them to go to bed before Second Seating is over. But if a family knows that their child will have issues with upset stomachs, etc, then I do hope they take measures to make sure the child does not get sick. And that includes keeping them away from the fast food stands and soda.

And I'm not sure what the dietitian example has to do with Main or Second Seating. In either case, it is the last meal of the day and according to that, it should be the smallest meal no matter what.
