Anyone care to share their experience with concierge service while sailing in a Cat3 room? We will be on the FL-CA trip aboard the Magic and are curious to know how others enjoyed (or not) the perks of paying all that cash for a cat3!

Hi Jim,

We stayed in a cat 3 for our first Wonder cruise back in May. I loved it so much, that I just booked a parents only trip for this January, staying in cat 3 again.

I'll list the perks in the order that we received them:

#1. Being able to call and book Palo's reservations and excursions before we sailed. I also put in a request for a specific dining rotation.

#2. At the terminal, concierge has their own check-in line. As soon as our documents were all set, the cm escorted us to a special seating area. We got to wait on couches instead of having to stand in line. Also, our KTTW cards were gold.

#3. Concierge boards immediately after guests with disabilities. Our family was the first on board.

#4. Following our lunch in Parrot Cay, we were invited to a concierge meet & greet. We met our team and while sitting in one spot, different cm's came to us and helped to register the kids in the clubs, take spa reservations, Palo's and excursions if we hadn't booked them previously.

#5. The stateroom is HUGE! We walked into a small entryway with a closet on one side and a full bathroom on the other. The hallway opened up to a spacious living room/dining room combination. There was an entertainment center which housed the tv, vcr and cd player. Sliding doors to a large verandah. Inside the sidebar were some board games. The dining room table had 4 chairs and there was a bowl of fruit, 6 assorted soda's and bottles of water. Etched glass doors opened up to the master bedroom. We had a standard cat 3, so it also contained the pull-down murphy bed. There was a tv and another set of sliders to the verandah. Off the master bedroom, was a vanity and walk in closet. Through this room was a double sink and jacuzzi tub and through this room was the toilet and shower. Literally 3 people could wash and change at the same exact time.

#6. Daily phone calls from our concierge team and daily gifts. One night it was a plate of desserts, on another it was a plate full of cookies.

#7. A concierge cocktail hour with drinks and appetizers.

#8. Extended room service is available (you are able to order off of the menu's for any restaurant but Palo's). Concierge is also the only one who can receive the room service continental breakfast on the morning of disembarkment.

#9. Video's, games and electronic games are available for concierge guests to borrow.

#10. On the final night, they hand delivered our bill at about 6pm along with a beautiful lithograph of the ship. In normal circumstances, the bill would be left early in the morning and if you needed to make any corrections, you get in line at the desk. We noticed an error on our bill and we simply called concierge, they fixed it and had a corrected bill in our hands within a half hour. We didn't even have to leave the room.

We enjoyed every minute of our trip and the concierge service that we received was definitely worth it to us.

From other peoples posts, they were able to order from PALO. Or is this just on the Magic.

Thanks Mickey Minder.

Travis, I don't know about Palo. There wasn't a menu in our room service guide, so I just assumed that it was not an option. I never asked about it though, so maybe it's available if you call. We only used room service for breakfast. If someone has first hand knowledge on Palo's availabilty, please fill us in.

Thanks Tammi! Really appreciate all the detail that you provided. Now I'm even more excited than before. We think the extra room will be nice considering it's a 14 day trip. Might want to spend a little more time in there than usual. Also we're in 8532 which I'm told is one of the larger mid-ship cat3's. We consider ourselves to be so lucky that one of the rooms came available! AGain, thanks for all the info...

Jim, what a coincidence, we are booked into 8532 for our Magic cruise in January. I was also told that it's a bit bigger and it has 3 sets of sliding glass doors to the verandah instead of the usual 2. You'll have to let me know how you guys liked it and if there was a noise factor. I did a search on the boards and read where one family would never stay there again because of all the noise from the deck above them. That probably won't bother me too much though, my DH (Jim also) snores something fierce and I normally wear ear plugs to bed.

Wow 14 days. Yes, you are definitely going to enjoy having that extra room and the little perks that go along with cat 3.

We stayed in Cat. 2 on our June 19 cruise and there was a Palo menu available to order from. I believe only Cat. 1 and 2 are allowed to order room service from Palo. HTH

We stayed in 8532 in March and it was fabulous. There was definitely noise from above but it didn't really bother us. We were so tired at night that nothing kept us up.

my passporter said that palos was not avalible in cat 3 for in room dinning.

I was sure that I read here from other posters that you could order room service for Palo in a Cat. 3. I tried searching but it is disabled. Has anyone stayed in a Cat. 3 and ordered from Palo?

Also, I've read that you both can and can not order room service breakfast in a Cat. 3 on the morning you disembark. Is it a new policy that you can or am I mistaken?

We just went in March and we DID order room service on the last morning and we could NOT order room service from Palo. I called to order room service one night and asked and they said that we could not.

SweetSpot, I'm awaiting the Palo's answer myself as we're staying in cat 3 again in January.

As for the breakfast, we were on the 5/27 Wonder and concierge stopped by on our final night and said that we couldn't order a full room service breakfast on disembarking day, but we could order the continental breakfast. That was a choice of juices, coffee, cereal, fruit, danish, muffins & bagels. It was basically one of those order forms that you leave on your door handle by a certain time of night. You fill in the quantity of each item that you want and select the time you want it delivered. This is available in all staterooms. The only exception is on the morning of disembarking. Only the concierge suites can order it then.

You wrote you could NOT order from the Palo. What Cat. were you in? From those who have do you still pay the $10 fee when it is room service?

This is driving me crazy!! I have heard that you can and can't have PALO for room service. I'm pretty sure that I have read replys before that the CAT. 3 has gotten PALOS....because one said that her child got to try the food and loved it...

I sure hope we are able to get this in the room! I WANT MY CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE EVERY NIGHT!! :hyper: :hyper:

I'm just jealous that you got a Cat. 3 for the repo. We tried for the CA to FL leg within the first 15" they went on sale and are on a waiting list but no luck yet.

Hi Tammi, You mentioned that the Concierge Team helped you register for the Kids Clubs. Does that include Flounders too?

Has anyone cruised lately in Cat. 3????? Are you able to order room service from Palo's? I have also heard you can, and now I read only cat 1 and 2 is able to.

kaseyC, I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. I had one child in the lab and the other is common grounds age. I would guess that the answer is yes, they will also help with Flounders, but perhaps another dis'er knows for sure. Anyone??

5boysplus-

We were in a category 3.

Just to clarify my breakfast comment - we were able to order breakfast on the last morning but it was just a continental breakfast, not a full breakfast.

This was just in March so it's fairly recent.
