Concierge rooms?

Please tell me what sort of discount you have used on a concierge room in the past. We have AAA, APs, and Disney Visa. Just curious if any of those will be useful! Thanks!:)

We have always used AP rates. In Jan we will be using AAA discount for the first time because AAA rate beat AP rates.

We have 2 rooms booked at the Polynesian concierge for May. The lagoon view room had the AAA discount available, while the garden view room didn't! :confused3 All of the different discounts aren't necessarily available at all of the different concierge types.

I always booked with a AAA discount as soon as I knew when I wanted to go and AAA discount was open for those dates. I figured it was better than booking at rack rate. There was a time that AAA was the best I could do-couldn't get AP.

When I stayed at CR concierge I booked that trip about a month before the trip. I could only get 2 of the 3 nights at AP but kept checking everyday and eventually got all 3 nights at AP.

We got an AP rate for AKL concierge one year, for the Day After Christmas for a week - suprised we got it for the busiest week of the year and we only paid $250 a night! It was so crowded, but nice to relax at the resort and enjoy the lounge every day. I don't expect to see anything like that rate again - most folks were paying $600 a night for the same room (or more).

BTW, I'd never go that week again, it's so crowded. Luckily, we've seen a lot at WDW and just enjoyed the short times at the theme parks, then enjoyed the resort pool and stuff.

I have called twice to try to get a AAA discount on AKL concierge for Aug. 1-4 but no luck. I called this morning to see if we had a code for 40%, also no luck. It sounds like the only shot I have at less than rack rate will be AP.

I've found that in most instances, AAA beats AP rates for concierge rooms. When you think that AAA is a percentage off the total cost of that room, while AP is just a flat amount off any room, AAA generally works more in your favor.

I know this held true for our room in the Royal Palm Club at the GF last month. I secured AAA for it months out, and when the AP rate came out, my TA e-mailed me that AAA was indeed still the better deal.

I was able to secure a AAA rate at the AKL club level for mid-December next year, and know I could also do the same for club level at the GF for afterwards (have a regular room there, and trying to decide if I want to splurge again!).

I wonder if I fool with the dates if I can get the AAA rate? I had it booked (at rack rate) for the 2nd week of August, then cancelled that when we decided to do BC on the Bounce Back. But I REALLY want to do the Sunrise Safari, so we need to be in concierge for at least a little part of the trip. Hmm.

EDIT:
Nope. That didn't work, either! I have tried 3 different configurations of dates for a AAA discount and nothing for standard club level. Darn!
